okay, i am about to make a web page, it wont look crap i can garuntee that but i dont have an idea of what would be a good webpage that people would like...i would have a forum whrere u can talk about ANYTHING,...umm a place wherer u can post games, gifs, url's, anything...umm, i dont know what else,...
i want peoples help on how i can make a cool site that people will visit cos i dont wanna put all my effort into a site that no1 will visit....

yes, but dont you think that it is actually a good idea to ask the people what would be good, i mean there is no point putting random thinga on the page, if i have lots of ideas to help me, it will be easier, and people will enjoy the page.

Well Neo sort of made a valid point. In my experience your first website is very likely to be filled with rubbish that no one will want to visit, but there's nothing wrong with that (or maybe that's just me..). You already have a vague idea, just see what you come up with. My advice would be to focus more on just one thing though, and to do that well, rather than trying to be all-encompassing. Don't be too stressed about whether people will visit or not. They might, they might not.
Now Arfs site is a very good example, great look, easy navigation, packed with many things, including online games which people love!, if youre new to making websites then you should look at learning "HTML". but you dont just ask people what would be a good site, maybe ask them how to improve your site, or something.
yes well i know html and i am pretty good at making 3d pictures logos buttons, etc.
i would just like the peoples input on my webpage so when it is complete, people will like it. if i put what only i thought was good, it might not what other people liked. so with your input, you can really help me...
and where can i get GOOD forums like this one, or are you suposed to make the yourself???

You can get forums from other places eg. Ezboards and stuff. But making your own in script can turn out better, plus it's add free.

It might not, but how do you know until you try? I'm sure more people will be happy to help (myself included) once you've actually got something up and running. Give it a go.
[Game[wACk]xxx], be sure not to put too many picture files on your web site. That is a sure sign of a first website and people won't come there because they'll believe that the rest of it has to be crap or because it'll take to long to upload the website.
Ok first of all dood...if it's your first site, don't try and tackle the big issues with it...don't try and take on DC at all man!
Basically if it's your first website it should be there as a doorway to your creations. Most members here have one. It a website that is updated, maybe not a regular basis, but anytime you have done some progress on your creations and so on. And you have all of your screenies and downloads of your games, or the progress of your games.
It should almost be like an interactive Clicking Journal.
And you could have a little forum or message board where people could comment on your site, and on your games, and make recommendations on what you should do next and stuff.
Hell you could even have a Vitalize arcade if your good enough!
Just don't expect to make to much of it! You need to be like an HTML or PHP genius to pull off some stuff you seen on sites like this one...and, no offense, some how I doubt that.
If you are going to make something fully blown, you need to spend alot of time and effort...you'd need to buy your own web name and bandwidth...and you'd need more than just you to service it...take DC as a great example! These things don't come cheap for starters!
Start small...I mean sure...you could do better than my crappy geocities site anyday of the week...but that's kinda where you should set your aim...look around at some of the members sites here. Some of them are very cool and well done, but they basically serve a simple purpose.

I used to have a website and I wanted loads of people to come, so I made loads of pages filled with nothing/rubbish. The site is http://noodlegames.tripod.com. It wasn't very good. I think it's better to concentrate on a few things and make them really cool, rather than have loads of crap things. As they say quality over quantity.
