Anyone play Creatures on the Commodore 64? It was this sweet puzzle game, where you controlled this furry thing called Clyde, and you had to rescue these other furry things from different death inducing machines and evil creatures. It had very cute graphics, but the game was gory as hell. It was worth losing to see your creatures get gutted or diced by evil gadgets or Mr Chainsaw. There was an Amiga version, which was a platformer, but it totally sucked.
Earthbound[SNES] - I dont think this got released in the UK, but I downloaded a rom of it. The battle system isnt all that great, but the graphics are awesome.
Seiken Densetsu 3 (one of the Secret Of Mana games)[SNES] - I dont think this actually got released outside of Japan, but I may be wrong. I aslo downloaded a rom for this game, and it is one of the best RPG's on the SNES.
Jade Coccon got such a crap story about teh soul and junk, but the game is nice its like a 3d pokemon adventure but with creatures you can merge then like have wings of one creature and have the skin of an other.
Jade Cocoon2 was alright but not as good as first.
Tomba? TOMBA OH YEAH!!!!! i have always wanted to buy full version of that but never found it. i had demo (gone now) and i rented full version and i loved it.
But i defeated 1 of the 7 pigs but i couldn't find any more thats when i got stuck. the pig i defeated stop the rain and lighting in this mountain.
do you remember the monkey dude from Tomba?
I don't think the quote function works but I'll do it anyways
Anyways Earthbound was very successful in the U.S. and the N64 sequal was always one of the most anticipated games for the system. Unfortunately it got cancelled since design went off track and the cart didn't have enough memory =(. Earthbound is a pretty good game for SNES though.
I forgot a couple other games I liked on SNES:
Top Gear 3000 (SNES)- I may be the only one that REALLY liked this game, but MAN did I like it! It was a high-speed racing game where you could upgrade the parts to your car after each race. You could upgrade the tires, the engine, the gears, give it jumping capabilities, and more. I really got into that game. Unfortunately, I don't know if I'd like it so much anymore. I find when I play old Sports or Racing games I don't like them as much.
Stunt Race FX (SNES)- Another game I liked a lot, it was one of the first and only games to use the FX Chip for the SNES. (The chip that let the system do 3D polygonal graphics- Starfox was another game that used it.) It was a racing game, and was fun as heck back in the day. There was a stunt mode and a racing mode. If you were as 1337 as me, you could unlock the hidden motorcycle- a fast but ridiculously hard to control vehicle. Again, though- like most old racing or sports games when I came back to it it had lost it's appeal.
Yeah I doubt many will remember those =/
Tomba! I remember that game! I wanted that game soooooooooooooooooooo bad but I didn't have a PSX! I later watched someone go through almost the entire 'Tomba!' game, and another through almost the entire 'Tomba! 2' game. Unfortunately after seeing most of the games I had lost my wanting to play them. Great games, though! =D
Oh yes, I know this is a game everyone knows about- but I just got Donkey Kong Country 2 in the mail from EBay the other day and I LOVE it. I beat it 102% when I was a kid, and am still kicking myself for selling it and my SNES. This game was GOD to me. It was the first game I owned. My parents never wanted me to play games, then finally my mom got me an NES at a garage sale. Now that the floodgates were open, I got an SNES for my BDay and DKC2.
Remember the first game you really PLAYED? When you got your NES and played Mario Bros. for hours and finally beat it? When you got the Super NES and beat Super Mario World to a pulp? Those are the feelings I get from playing DKC2. I love this game.
-The KlikFactory
Why's there a star next to the Sig? What if I don't want a sig? This sucks.
I found Syphon Filter 2 yesterday at a local market - I'd been looking for that for a while. No luck with Tombi! or Kurushi yet, though. I'm still looking.
Hmm... my first console was a Genesis. Good old Sonic...
Ufouria[NES]- Great Metroid clone. Has four characters (you must find the other three), a secret weapon for each, a map that can be upgraded, fun boss fights, and neat items. And Freeon-Leon is a cool name.
Shinobi 3[Genesis]- One of the coolest non-stealth ninja games around. The ninjutsu effects are really fun to watch. The best song in the game is "Idaten", the music in the horseback section. My favorite part was the second section of Electric Demon, since there are a lot of secret areas. Note: press jump at the peak of jump to somersault.
Wai Wai World[NES]- A Konami omake game. Play as Konami Man and Konami Girl and rescue the rest of Konami World's heroes. The people you can rescue are Simon Belmont, Goemon, Fuuma (from Getsufuu Maden), Mikey (from the Goonies), Donkey Kong (don't ask me why he's in this game), and Moai (from Moai-Kun). Each character can find a subweapon, which uses bullets for energy. Difficult, but fun. Notes: Up+Jump is to change characters, Down+Jump is to equip/unequip subweapons, and Goemon can open the "?" boxes.
Soliel aka crusader of centy for the megadrive(genesis)
people claim that this is a zelda rip off and so ignore it
well they are a bunch of munchkins!!
come on there are worse game to base another on!
soliel is in the same style as zelda only with more freedom and not as many boring caves. and you collect animal freinds to help you learn new moves.
the story is about a boy that comes of age (14) and recieves the sword and sheild his dad used to use. He battles the monsters that have appeared and discovers why and where they come from to get rid of them.
brilliant.
Tower of Souls [AMIGA, 1995] - I loved to play this fantastic Diablo alike RPG for the AMIGA. Everything was great and it contained a good story. I tried the same game for the PC, but the PC-version sucks.
Reunion [AMIGA, 1994] - I was addicted to this strategy game. You had to control a human world far from Earth. Build buildings, develop new technics, mine recources, contact aliens, fight aliens with your ships, etc. etc. At the end you will return to Earth. It was a great game!
Now you can only play these games with an emulator (WinUAE)
Soliel is an excellent game (I haven't been playing it much, though). It is a lot like Zelda 3, but it is less RPG and more action (you can jump, throw your sword, ride on the wind, etc.) so it is quite unique. And the graphics show off the Genesis's power to no end.
Joy Mecha Fight[NES]- A great fighter with 8 selectable fighters (you must earn them), an ingame manual, and extremely good animation.
Tokyuu Shirei Soul Brain[NES]- Japanese version of Shatterhand. Has an actual story and a different character.
Spelunker 2[NES]- Fun, but sickeningly difficult platform RPG that is nothing like the original.
The greatest game nobodies heard if is...Total Soccer. It's a Net Yaroze game, where you play football (interestingly) and it was free with PS Magazine.
