This question isn't click related in any way, but it does involve game design. I am working on a custom campaign using the Campaign editor. In my current mission, you begin as small group of human controlled Terrans. You also get Jim Raynor with them. You need to walk a short distance to get to a base which is rescuable. The problem is, instead of being able to control my starting force, they act as neutral characters and I can't do anything with them.
If anyone has experience using the Starcraft campaign editor please help me out. Thanks.
I have already done what you said but no effect. Heres a more detailed description.
The small group of units you start with are white terrans. The Jim Raynor I used is a teal terran because heroes are usually teal. I learned that to have heroes of a different color on your side you need to set their player to rescuable.
Anyways, so far I have:
Human controlled White Terrans
Rescuable Teal Terrans (for heroes)
Finally, there is a blue terran base which is also set to rescuable. Under normal circumstances, I should be able to move my white terrans and Jim Raynor to the blue base so that it can be rescued and put under human control.
However, I mentioned before what the result Im getting is. And, I am using use map settings and the white, blue and teal terrans are on the same force.
If it makes a difference, player 1 is in fact the computer controlled enemy. Does this matter in any way?
Hmm...
Is it your main unit<your starting unit> you can't control, or is it the rescueable units and base that you can't control? And Grazzum, I'll battle you in Starcraft, if you want...
I'm sorry, I didn't read the rest!
You can't have computer players & human players on the same team. That amy be the problem.
Don't make them rescuable. Make them neutral, then use the [give characters] event to give them to player one. I hope that's right, I used to very experienced with the SC editor, but it's been a year or two since I've used it.
You said the main players were teal, right? Did you put them on human? And come to think of it, aren't the rescueable people supposed to be on the same team?
No my main guys were white, the heroes are teal becuase thats how heroes are distinguished in the real campaigns. The teals need to be made rescuable so that they can be under you control even if they're a different color.
Similar to the mission in the original where you have to reach norad 2, there is a whole base which is rescuable. All three teams mentioned are on the same force. Yet, I can't control anyone. They all have a neutral behavior.
So, who do you control when the level starts? If you can't move the white terrans, then you have to have some unit you can select or the level wouldn't start.
I wanna play one of you nigz, I got W3 ROC (GOnna get FT sometime) Starcraft, I got all the games actually Except the dick usless Diablo Hellfire Expansion and Frozenthrone
The defeat part is because no one is on your team, obviously.
Its been too long, sorry.
-Above post is ancient and probably irrelevant-
An old account of mine, recently cleared out. It's a blast to the past, the age was marked as 14 when I found it. If you know where to look, you can track me. Au revoir.
You have been playing this as Use Map Settings, right? Because you should be able to choose your player from those set as human (unless there's only one). You should create another human force, just to make sure that the team you want is selectable. If it isn't then there's your problem, if it is, I don't know what's going on.
Also, from memory I think the colours of your force are random, even on UMS. So raynor won't be teal even if you get it working. I tink you can make the colours static by hex editing the level file, but it's been too long since I've done it.
