What the hell is going on with game of the week? Why is midnight jets up there? It didn't work for god knows how long, and it's rating is 33%. The only reason that this is in the GOTW is that it was posted on the front page by someone who obviously just posted it there without even trying it out first. I'm sorry but I think that is crap. Many other games have slipped under the radar. So what's the criteria for making GOTW? Is it number of downloads? Random whim? Now I have nothing against pr0 or his game, I just don't think that it's GOTW Material.
Games are chosen if they have a reasonable description and screenshots, and also if they're full games rather than apps or demos (unless there aren't enough games to make up the numbers).
The % ratings hurts new games that haven't had a chance to get enough ratings yet. I would rather have all the games in GOTW, but I guess it doesn't matter.
I think GOTW should just be eliminated and replaced with an Admin's choice feature at the end of every month detailing the games they felt were of quality. Kind of like Gamespotting if any of you read that. As it stands right now, you have one week where 3 crappy games are competing and one of them wins, followed by another week where 3 great games compete and only 1 gets any recognition, while the other 2 are infinitly better than the 1 that won the week before. It's not really all that fair to developers of great games who just happen to choose a bad time to release them.

this place sucks but don't tell anyone, it's our little secret, ok?
clickteam should stop making these game-making tools, then there wouldnt be any crap games!

It's definately an odd little system, but then again, the only way to solve this would be a poll
"What games do you want to see in GOTW?" Followed by the actual GOTW. But that would just be stupid.
Sorry bout double posting, but wouldn't there be someway to make the whole system automated, have a bot search through DL for the last week, look for # of DL, %rating, and then have it compile a list that would be then sent to someone who would review it, make any necessary changes then post it?
PS. I'm not saying that doesn't apply to me... all of my TGF/MMF games sucked

I have two GOTW and the pride is all gone. No-one makes good games anymore. Well, very rarely anyway.
Show me the power child,
I'd like to say,
That I'm down on my knees today,
Gives me the butterflies,
Gives me away,
'Til I'm up on my feet again,
I'm feeling outshined.
That has got to be the stupidest thing Ive ever read. Ofcourse games are gonna be crap if you go looking for the bad ones, but it is extremely short-sighted to say that no good games have been released recently. Also, how do you know 'good' games arent in development? It can take a while for such games to be released.
I do agree that some weeks games win that arent the best. I was mildly amused when I saw that Skelletor had won, but thats just the luck of the draw.
If you judge every game by whether it won game of the week or not than thats almost like the people who judge other klikers by their DC points. Ultimately you have to decide whether a game is good or not, even if you are in the minority.
Maybe something does need to change about the GOTW, but if you agreed that it once worked as a definer of quality games, well nothing has changed, it is still the peoples vote. Personally I dont always think the people's opinion is always the best. That is why I've never held the game of the week too highly.
Well thats my 4 cents(AUS)
'oh yeah? he's thrown a kettle over a pub, what have you done?'
I've only ever voted when I've tried all the games. Of course, I think I've only voted twice. Seems kind of ridiculous to be voting when you aren't familiar with all of the candidates, but I guess that happens a lot in any election.
