With the gracious help of Pete Nattress, Here's a little Competition I'm starting.
Rules:
1. The theme for this Competition is Giant Robots, example being Gundam, NGE, Mechwarrior, etc.
2. The game must use original graphics.
3. There must be multiple weapons.
4. The total size of your entry must be less than 1mb zipped.
5. You have 1 week from today, any entries entered after the 29th of February will not be accepted. This date will be set by TDC time, so once TDC's date switches over to the 1st of March, the Competition is over.
6. As always, make sure you have fun with this comp.
-------------------
Prizes
1st: 50 DC Points
2nd: 25 DC Points
3rd: 10 DC Points
Well that's about it, I wish everyone luck, and if you have any questions, just post them here.
If one more person says the limit should be longer, then it will be two weeks from today. So as soon as TDC turns to March 8th no more entries will be accepted.
Might be a push with school and work, but I'll give it a a go. It's a cool theme.
Show me the power child,
I'd like to say,
That I'm down on my knees today,
Gives me the butterflies,
Gives me away,
'Til I'm up on my feet again,
I'm feeling outshined.
I could help you program it and probably help with some of the graphics. I could take a break from Barry the bean since I have one more world left to do anyways.

don't wanna push MSD off the top just yet. that and i can't be arsed.
Did anyone else notice that the date change was not exactly confirmed by the guy who posted this? And he's nowhere to be found. Maybe he's busy making a game to win his own competition.
Also, it's what... three days before the competition was originally supposed to end, and there's still no mention of it on the front page. Why? Because one admin doesn't want to knock another admin's game off the precious top spot, or because he can't be bothered. I mean, this isn't even half-assed. It's like an eighth-assed effort.
It's alright. Someone once said that The Daily Click was run by and for retardational children with compulsive masturbatory habits. I just didn't want to believe it was true....

yes, alright, calm down, it's only a bit of fun o_O
well its a bastard of a date but im in i've got a mech game engine called Heavy mech Al which I never quite finished off that would be perfect for this those 50 points are mine HA HA HA
Hmm...I've got a neat idea. Just hope I can finish it by tomorrow.
Can I make a game with Giant robots and Mini Robots, that doesn't follow any standard type of gameplay and possibly is completely unrelated except that your units are robots?
Yes the 8th it is, and remember it's less than 1 meg zipped, so if you fool with the setting of winzip you can get better compression. Good luck to all, and does anyone have some screenies to show off of their games in progress?
wow... too bad i'm no good at robots... if you allow vitalized games (i'm not sure if you do) the filesizes get much smaller! it compresses the sounds and misileaneous crap so you don't have to, then zip will make it even smaller!
Mr Icekirby says so!

hmmmm i doubt it; if the sounds and pics in a CCN are already compressed i don't think winzip would be able to make it any smaller.
I've changed my mind. I think i will enter this competition after all. The worst place i can come is last. And If i dont try then thats worse then coming last.
It's not going to be as finished as Super Ken Senshi, but hopefully it'll raise a few eyebrows.

hey paul, you have your DC points, now you have to compliment me, nahahah. and i'm going to pull my finger out and get these prizes from CT for you Xmas Compo winners, because it's starting to annoy me. however, you can blame Sejj for the lateness.
Damn. NOW I find out that there's a competition. Why didn't you guys announce it on the front page?
Disclaimer: Any sarcasm in my posts will not be mentioned as that would ruin the purpose. It is assumed that the reader is intelligent enough to tell the difference between what is sarcasm and what is not.
No, my email is screwed up for attachments at the moment. Register for a geoshities page www.geocities.com and upload it there. Then Post your link here or DC mail me, and I'll download it.
@Blueemu - That's a cool game you have there.
@everyone else - Haven't had a chance to play all your games yet, but I will announce the winners later this week.
Hey shab, I'm really sorry but i couldnt get my game in on time. I had viruses nachi and blaster for about a week, so unfortunately my entry wont be in this one
Hopefully I will have plenty of time for the next one. good luck with it shab!
Yeah, the time on my post was 12:15, and I don't know if that was the original or the edit.
Anyway, that was an update. If you look further back, I posted the original version, and it's still up.
Anyway (2), I'd have no problem with accepting the submission from Mr. Mean. I mean, it probably wasn't *that* late, and I'd hate for his work to have been for nothing. Besides, it's not like we're playing for money here.
Wow, if he doesn't post soon I'll get to submit a revised edition. Really though, has anyone seen him? Maybe he shared a can of salmon with Killerjedi or something.
"Wow, if he doesn't post soon I'll get to submit a revised edition. "
That sounds like a good idea. I've already made a revised edition.
I wonder if he'll accept revised editions that are barely over 1mb. I wasn't going to make a revised edition for the compo, but at this rate, the final size of the revised edition is 1.03mb.
Here's the link if he'll be accepting revised editions:
http://home.comcast.net/~mytochi/NovuxaH.zip
Thats true. No submission after the closing date should be allowed in. It wouldnt be exactly fair If I entered High Voltage Snowboarding later then the closing date. Revised editions definately shouldnt be allowed into the competition.
Well, when my mum says maybe, it usually means yes and Pete, due to your position on TDC as an admin, I suppose you are like a motherly figure to us all j/k.
But I hope that maybe is a positive maybe... Hey, prizes to me aren't even important, it'd be great to have some mind stimulus once in a while!
In fact, how about competitions every 2 weeks for DC points? (Yes, I realize I've contradicted myself in saying prizes aren't important, but it's just so it appeals to everyone by offering a reward)... That'd keep bored klikkers like me active
Winners could join the fortnightly judging panel?
Viddy A ClockWork Orange, Droogs...
Goddamn you to hell 'Newbie' DC Rating... Go up, UP DAMN YOU!
how ironic...
i find it funny that lordsteve is saying that snerlin was wrong by sumbitting it LATE when lordsteve sent his ORIGINAL in late....
hehe-no offense lordsteve
hmm... i think shab went to this party that was advertised here that went to brazil to drink fresh ground coffee...mmm.....
or maybe not
OK, first off I'd like to apologize for the late results. Some idiot decided to run his car into my DSL box, so my internet has been..spotty.. at best. But here's the results.
1. Heavy Mech Al - Blueemu
2. Scorch - Lord Steve
3. Mini Bot Invation - Kramy
4. Novuxa Harvest - Snerlin
5. Machines - Fire and Ice Interactive
6. Giant Robo Go Grocery Store - Defenestrator
7. RoboComp - Mr. Mean [joNick]
Again, sorry about all the delays, and the top three will have their DC points soon, (I hope).
Hmm...who knows. I mean the best gfx didnt win this compo ...i think i got kicked on to the second place because i violated three rules.
Filesize-1mb(mine was 1.06mb)
Timelimit
And my game has no GIANT robots
Boys, please dont get me wrong i think blue emu did a good job with heavy metal joe.
I´m just dissapointed with my personal result....
exept krammy's had relatively uh...wierd...graphics.
krammy: i still have no idea how to play that game.
lordsteve: again had awsome graphics but only one level...
beemue: had awsome graphics but thats about it...hard to control the movement
Yeah, what gives? I lost to somebody whose entry didn't even qualify, according to the rules? Why were there rules in the first place?
Oh well. It was a fun diversion and anything that motivates me to finish a game, especially in two weeks (days?) has to be taken as a good thing. Congrats to all the winners.
Second place is the first looser
.
.
Hey defenestrator!
Stop whining! Even if i did follow the rules, your game wouldnt have come much further than sixth place.
Ooohh I'm on the >>SHITLIST<< of quite possible the biggest moron alive (Stupidnameguy). Oh the pain, the pain of it all.

Lord Steve: WAAAAHH! Second place, is the first loser! I should of came 1st! This game obviously wasn't about graphics or I would of won WAAAAAH! I should be able to break 3 rules and still come 1st, I AM LORD STEVE!!!
The funniest thing about Busters reply is it wasn't exaggerated much at all. Well compared to the usual standards anyway.

@buster: lmao! I know it wasnt only about gfx, all i´m sayin that i´m dissappointed with the second place.
I didnt say "i should have gotten the first place" cos bluemu doesnt deserve it or sslt.
Btw, i did not break the rules on purpose, i only had 1 week while most of the others had two. so shab told he was gonna make an exception. and i simply forgot that the compo was about "giant" robots, so i made a game about "normal sized" robots. It was just a simple adjective that made me break this rule.

@ashman: am i the only one that´s "brave" enough to mess with you? Good!
you´ve been here since december 2002 runnin around, tellin people theyre n00bs, posting trash and you act like some teenager in puberty thinking you´re god. In fact, youre no better than =fraggy= or joel_r who are both pretty new here.
Who´s the moron, now?
OK, here we go.
@defenestrator - Your game was fun, and you were definately right on with the Giant Robot Theme, I liked it. Just not a whole lot of gameplay.
@lordsteve - It was judged by me, I balanced everything out, yours technically wasn't a giant robot game. The engine is damned impressive though.
@Snerlin - I did NOT judge it by graphics, otherwise you would have beaten out Kramys game.
@Kramy - That's an awesome game man, the klik community needs more strategy games.
@Blueemu - I consider your game to be the best in the comp for a few reasons that I will explain here for you and everyone else.
1. The feel was dead on, I felt like I was controlling a Mech walking down the street.
2. There are some little touches like the exploding cars and such, they add to the atmosphere.
3. There was a good, slick presentation.
@istvan - Hey, now I wasn't an editor when I did that.
EDIT:
Also to let you all know, I'm going to lock this topic as it's title has been making people think there is Another Comp going on. I'll lock it tomorrow, so if you have any comments, now would be the time to put them here.

Umm, this is the internet not life or death. You don't exactly need to be brave to take someone on online. Actually I've been here since June 2002 (obviously you checked my profile but you fail to see the difference between June and December... not that you're a moron or anything). I have no idea who Fragface or JoelBaby are, nor do I claim to think I am god.
I AM A TEENAGER IN PUBERTY It's nothing to be ashamed of, it's a natural part of growing up. Something you are obviously never going to do.
In short, Stupidnameguy = moron.

god forbid, a reasoned and sensible post from ashman.
ashman, i demand a crude sexual joke to counteract that last post.
Well, assman....
Of course theres no need to be brave, otherwise your behaviour would be totally different.
yep i checked your profile and yep i twisted the date coz i tend to forget that 6/12/02 was the american date format, in germany 6/12/02 would mean the 6th of december. Anyway, i DID fail to see that your only 16 years old, which is actually kind of funny, because now i see that you act your age.
So whatever, thrashman
