I listen to loadsa albums on a Winamp playlist. Metallica is on there of course (don't sue me Lars, I still got em all on CD), stuff like Foo Fighters, Queens of the Stone Age, Rage Against the Machine, System of A Down, CKY, Weezer, and loadsa obsucre death metal that probably nobody's heard of.
Cool. I listen to a pretty wide variety of stuff myself. Lately tho I've been on a bit of a punk and emo binge. Lots of AFI, Thrice, Bright Eyes, After the Fall, and Weezer.
I have all my albums ripped to MP3, although I have very little downloaded music. I prefer to have the whole case, booklet and so on, not to mention support artists that I think deserve my money. Next five things on Winamp playlist...
Kamelot: Epica - Wander
Gamma Ray: Powerplant - Short as Hell
Queen: Greatest Hits - Flash
Gamma Ray: No World Order - New World Order
Iron Maiden: Virtual XI: The Educated Fool
I listen to NOFX, Mad Caddies, Comeback Kid, Moulin Rouge Soundtrack (Oh yeah Baby!), Strike Anyway, Old Blink 182 stuff, some Adema. Mostly punk and ska.
At the moment? Because you only wrote CD and not CDs...
At the moment I listen to Vex Red's Start With A Strong And Persistant Desire. I love that album a lot-Just like the cover which is also very great but the cover of the single album Can't Smile is even cooler.
Metallica? Pussies? Oh really? Do they have awesome guitarists as capable as the great Kirk Hammett and James Hetfield...no. Takes balls to play guitar as good as them man. Who gives a fuck how low you tune your guitars and how much you roar into the mic.
Although Rammstein are cool though. But who gives a fuck about how heavy your fuckin music is! FFS! It's about skill man!
MUGGUS
Come and annoy me more at
www.muggus69.tk STOUT ANGER!!!
I like that German band, Ronstein, (I think that's how its spelled. I'm not really sure, I just own a bunch of burned cd's from my friends ).
Call me crazy, but I also like that Rock-Opera by Andrew Llyod Weber and Tim Rice: "Jesus Chirst, Superstar" . I also like Godsmack and stuff. Mmmyep...
Fine Garbage since 2003.
CURRENT PROJECT:
-Paying off a massive amount of debt in college loans.
-Working in television.
I listen to whatever I come across. MIDIs, MODs, 80's, Classical, etc. My favorite CD is this mix of all these great 60's-70's bands with songs by Jimi Hendrix, Led Zeppelin, The Clash, etc.
Muggus, Rammstein's guitarists have skills, Richard Kruspe and Paul Landers perform in perfect synch. And damn, their shows rock, like when the lead singer sings with his coat on fire, damn cool.
Steve Zissou: Anne-Marie, do all the interns get Glocks?
Rammstein aren't all that bad, some of their material is actually quite melodic (Sonne). I used to like Metallica but feel they've gone downhill a lot recently (unlike Iron Maiden, who just seem to have gone a little senile).
Nickelback are one of the few "popular" bands that I don't dislike... "Never Again" is pretty good, as it reminds me of the Mortal Kombat music.
currently listening to Mull Historical Society and Franz Ferdinand... funny mad but serious soft rock/creative rock bands. did you know the Franz Ferdinand album is secretly all about world war 2?
cant stand all this new, sorry NU, rock like Rammstein, blink etc it just seems so superficial. probably cuz i see little 5 year olds wearing band hoodies
also listen to a lot of Mods when im making my games. lot of Manic Street Preachers, Mull, Franz, Daft Punk, Junior Senior, Hed Kandi, T-Rex, Beatles, Bic Runga, Lene Marlin, Social Distortion, Coldplay, Zero7, Snow Patrol. none of this shouting or extreme distortion malarky.. OH and some mad J-rock J-pop (Nanase Aikawa, Ayumi Hamasaki stuff). David Bowie is a personal god
Swapped out CD's. Now I'm listening to AFI - Sing The Sorrow.
Anyway, yeah, Ramstein is pretty kick ass. Engel is probably my personal favorite of theirs. Metallica I used to love, but I lost almost all respect for them after the Napster thing and their latest excuse for a CD.
Japanese music kicks ass Jay. Rock on. I listen to mostly game and anime soundtracks tho, plus a little bit of stuff like Karuki Mai. The Pillows friggin' rule (FLCL soundtrack).
Thankyou Jay White! Im not the only one that doesnt care for heavy/nu metal.
Franz Ferdinand are ace. May as well quote myself from on older topic...ahem:

I listen to rock; all kinds of rock music!
From Rolling Stones, Deep Purple, Scorpions to Radiohead, Coldplay and Placebo.
From Maiden, Metallica, Sisters of Mercy to Anathema, Dreadful shadows and Madrugada.
I also listen to Greek rock bands such Diafana Krina, Trypes and Pyx-Lax.
My favourite lyrics:
"Pws na se aggiksw afou petakses psila

Posa megala eida stou kosmou t' anoixta

Muggus listen to some Lynyrd Skynyrd (eg free bird) they totally rocked, but they had a plane crash in the late 70's and only the lead band player survived .
I mainly listen to 70's rock, but i do listen to modern rock, but it isnt a patch on Pink Floyd and the old greats.
i dont like metallica. every year i go through a cycle where i dig up my old record player and stick it through my 1970's Triton amp coupled with 2 very snazzy Wharfedale Modus speakers... God himself would cry listening to the Human Leagues OLD stuff through that setup.
when thats up i throw on some old David Bowie, Human League, Mike Oldfield, Kraftwerk and some very rare Beatle collection stuff.
and game music. game music can be very good, take Chris Huelsbecks early 90 Turrican soundtrack on the Amiga... wow. it may sound ancient now but the melodies are timeless. The Great Bath HAS the be the all time #1 game song.
Metallica is the only band that know what true music is!
I like Rammstein (i don't know what he's singing about) but metallica is 12323123 times better.
forget the first 4 mins 40 seconds of Free Bird, their like some weird hippy song Muggus, listen to last 6 mins (it should be about 11 mins but every album cuts it down!! ) then they play proper , i hate the first 5 mins of that song.
Whats up with rock album CD they cut every friggen song!!!!!!!!!!
Hey do the play Slade "And here it is Merry Christmas..." at Christmas Everywhere??? and who does the 'Yankee Rose' on GTA VC????
I like a bit of punk, but not as much as I used to, after I realised how similar it all sounds...

One more thing. Rap sucks, don't let anyone tell you it's good! It's a conspiracy! Actually I have no proof of that but it's got to be if anyone actually likes that garbage.
Rap is the Reality Television of the music industry, they're both cheap and easy to make. Anyone can talk about random things to a beat in the background. It takes some skill to organize a band, play instruments and such, and it's alot harder to think of a name for a band, rather than just naming your self "Funk Master Bowflex" or something (That was geared towards artist that only give a damn about themselves, and rap of course. Rap bands are x however many are in the band more terrible. Manson and Rob Zombie also suck for that fact, but make up for it in actually good music.)
Well, maybe I've been too hard on the rap community. If it were up to me, I'd say rap and rock should join forces to take out the real enemy, and that is those little blonde girls that all look the same and don't even write there own music. I say we just combine them all into one person, so not to confuse people and paychecks, and then we can shoot that person. Here are some examples, Brittany Spears, Hillary Duff, and all the rest I can't think of right now.
But anyways, enough ranting for now... Hmm........
Look at me! I can be just like Eminem!
Flippity flam, All up in my jam!
Look at me eat all this spam!
Makin up words like stam and fam!
So then I can rhyme and change the tone for no reason!
Because its Beaver season!
Now, let me freestlye for yall some tunes bout me beatin up my girl, then wondren why she don't like me!
Mother F*ckin B*tch!
Im onna slap you up so hard, your bozhizzle ill fohizzle!
so I get the chizzle!
No daughter, don't cry, I didn't do nuttin
It was all her, sayin I hate you
and I know it's my fault
But I'm gonna turn around and rap about how it is her fault, so people will think I'm the shiznit, and take my word over hurs!
Seriously now, I really hate Eminem. You cant just make a song about how your gonna kill someone after a fight, then say that it was your feelings and you didn't mean it, and then say "why does she hate me? It must be her fault" Because all of you know that if any one of us made a song about how were going to bomb the US white house and Hijack some planes, and then afterwords say we didn't mean it, the government is so gonna ride our a*sses till they bleed, so eminem should get the death penalty or something. Him and his little rapper buddies.
Don't look at me like im Racist or prejuduce against a certain kind of music, because first of all, it's not a race, idiot, and it's not music. And there is no way you "rap people" can ever compare yourselves to something like the Jewish Holocaust or something like that (Believe me, some of them act like that, it's retarded). So let's all do our part to end rap, and say, "Screw you rap!"
I like Monkeys! And alot of people like metal, and alot like rap. I remember when I made a topic like this a while back alot of people liked rap. I guess they just got scared. Bah who cares. Monkeys!
@(o-o)@
I'll give a better idea of what I'm into... the CD's sitting on my desk right now are:
Thrice: Artist In The Ambulance
Thrice: Illusion of Safety
AFI: Sing The Sorrow
Scapegoat Wax: Okeeblow
The Strokes: Is This It
Cake: Comfort Eagle
Offspring: Americana
Everlast: Whitey Ford Sings The Blues
Ataris: So Long Astoria
Green Day: Dookie
Gilgamesh Dekakeru: For me he inappropriate attidude you state all Rappers have can also be found in most heavy metal bands. I cant see how you can compare people like Marylin Manson to people like Eminem and still say the latter acts unrationally.
Also I doubt think you should dismiss someone elses taste of music so simply. Youve definately not heard every rap song, and every sub-genre of rap. I think youll agree that the rap you are talking about is mainstream rap, which I to dislike. However unconventional/underground rap has its qualities...more so in my opinion than some of the heavy/hate/death metal Ive read about. To dismiss the rhythm and rhyming of true rap artists as something anyone can do is pretty offencive. Just by looking at my list youll probably notice Im not the biggest fan of rap, I am simply a fan of respecting others opinions, especially things like music, where personal taste is really the only reason for their choice of music.
For someone who enjoys violence on an enternainment level, you sure are critical of Eminems actions. For some people music is a way to release their angst and anger, often through punk rock (eg. the Clash), heavy metal (eg. Metallica) or rap (eg. Eminem). Id personally lean towards the Clash, but my point is all three musical genres release pretty much the same emotions and attidudes but in very different ways. So dismissing ones music as totally irrational really is ignorant.
The skill factor it takes in composing the particalar music is determined by taste. I doubt you really could write and perform some of the less commercial rap songs.
Im not supposed to argue with you, Gilgy, but I just couldnt help it
'oh yeah? he's thrown a kettle over a pub, what have you done?'
No, I understand where your comming from Isty. I still like some old school rap like beastie boys and such, but I just find it easier to say rap in general. You see when I say rap, I am referring to that mainstream rap. And yes you can find some rappers in Heavymetal bands I know, like P.O.D. did a song with Nappy Roots, and some bands have part Rap part Metal or Rock, which I like, such as 311 and some other guy I can't think of right now.
But you said "I am simply a fan of respecting others opinions", but as I recall (Meaning not to re-open old wounds) when I had made my opinion of all of those women things, you said "Shutup Gilgamesh, no one asked for your advice on women. And your not being very humorous by typing all that rubbish either" and "Even if Muz wrote a couple of posts on women I still value his objective opinion more than your subjective bullshit" and "please delete this trash", it really doesn't sound like your even making an effort to do so. But I don't want to get into a heated argument now, so I'm going to let that slide.
And I don't say that your not supposed to argue with me, you can, just don't get all huffy about it. There is never anything wrong with a good argument. Just don't badger me in other topics, k? . Like I said before, I respect you, I don't have anything against you, I'm not here to make any enemies. I'm sure your a sensible person, are you not?
And please don't get mad for me being a little offensive, I'm not the type to really care, but I do try to do my best in not doing it. And I used to try an value alot of other people opinions in the past, but that just doesn't work for me. Sure I value some opinions, but when I really don't like it, it's no help sucking up to the person. But anyways, yeah.
I personally believe most rap does not belong in the music industry. The music industry is for those with musical talent, be it singing or playing an instrument. Most rappers have no musical talent at all. I don't mind rap in metal because there is musical talen there. But people these days who think that talkling really quickly with bad half-rhymes and a limited and primarily ebonic vocabulary is an outstanding display of musical talent, I pity you.
I listen to alot of alternative, like badly drawn boy, whitlams, strokes etc. But that's not to say I don't like any popular music, I am a huge Blink 182 and Foo Fighters fan. As far as old music goes, The Beatles, The Sex Pistols and The Clash rate very highly with me, but I like alot more.
"But people these days who think that talkling really quickly with bad half-rhymes and a limited and primarily ebonic vocabulary is an outstanding display of musical talent, I pity you. "
excellent comment Damiem M. i listen to a few rap tracks but i dont believe it to be real music as such. it seems like a huge chunk of people these days are gettin into some weird 'gangsta' way of living. there are people at my college who walk round with fake limps and stuff thinking they are 'bad'. i dont get that and probably never will. they're all using mexican/bronx slang with accents and wierd clothes... anywho.
