Hello everybody I have used this site as a place to download MMF games for about a month now & this is my first post ever in the forums. One game (a really hyped game it is too) that I downloaded here awhile back & really liked was Eternal Daughter & I was wondering is there any tutorials out there for MMF 1.5 on how to make a game like this? There probalby isn't one out there for this type of game (like one that tells you all the aspects of making games in this genre) but what I really mean is is there a tutorial for say Metroid or Castlevania SotN style games or atleast just a tutorial on how to make it so you can go between rooms back & forth in those games style this would be a big help (a really big help).

Hmm I see 4 years, huh....well I think I can do it after all I've made quite a solid MMX style (well it's more of a MMX4 Zero battle system & it isn't with robots but a guy with a sword but I mean the system is basically simular like wall jumping, dashing & stuff ya know) system & I've only had MMF for a month almost now so I think I can do it, thanks man. But right now I haven't the slightest clue where to start on the room movement system I think that'll be the hardest part for me at this time atleast.

The room movement? I saw a tutoral in like 2000 that taught the stuff you want to learn. Go try a google seach for... ummm......uhhh....tutorals?

Room movement won't be the hardest part, I can (almost) guarantee that.

Yeah I forgot that cause I was in such a hurry after you told me the search idea I didn't read over what I typed. Anyway I found a number of cool tutorials that'll really help me out (Haven't found one on Metroid/ED/SotN style room movement though).

What do you mean by room movement?
Use different frames for each room, and use gloval variables to remember which frame you came from, what end of the frame to start in, etc.

Use global variables to save X/Y position depending on where the character exits the room, and to save all the movement alterable values.

It's actually easier if you just make each area one big scrolling level, instead of breaking it down into smaller frames. The player also likes it better because he does not have to wait for frames to load.

99 percent chance that the above post is 100 percent correct.
