So I've been seeing all these asinine news articles online about how Eric Bana is going to be the new James Bond. I guess Paris Hilton hasn't been boned on tape lately. Anyway, for those of you who don't know or care who Eric Bana is (which should include just about everyone except Mr. Bana and his immediate family), he's some Australian shithead who's been in a couple of lousy movies lately. Being that he's an Australian actor performing in the role of a British secret agent, I thought this would be an appropriate question to ask of an international community of teenage amateur game makers: does anybody still give a shit about James Bond since Timothy Dalton officially ruined the franchise for all of time?
Nobody seems to be interested in the films no more. I was kinda excited about Die Another Day and kept waiting for its release in the cinema, only to realise it had been released earlier and next week it's out on DVD. What the fuck people? Not even a trailer I saw.
Personally I don't give a shit who plays Bond, I heard Leonardo DiCaprio wanted to be Bond at one point, go on then feel free to officially kill James Bond. (Not that it's already happened)

well, these bananaman rumours appear to be just that: rumours. none of this has been reported in the UK, it sounds like hot air to me. as for the James Bond franchise itself, well, it's a British insitution and will be forever. whilst you yanks may be getting tired of it, Bond is a staple part of British cinematography (even if the movies are now made with American money, they are still filmed in Britain, the actors, scriptwriters, directors and other crew are British, in other words, they are still British). i for one will never tire of him. Brosnan was a good Bond, i think he helped revitalize the franchise after that dipshit Dalton screwed it up. Goldeneye in particular, i think, is one of the stronger films.
i was reading an article about Bond the other day, complaining about how he has succumbed to political correctness. it's probably true, but i disagree with the suggestion that it's a bad thing - we live in a more politically correct society now than in 1962. if Bond is a reflection of certain British cultural values, then he is a good one, and as such, he should just keep going. yay Bond, i say (and keep Brosnan )
Seriously, Bond has gotten kinda stupid recently. DAD spoiler: If you had a giant orbital laser, would you use it to A: smite your foes, B: destroy a minefield, C: destroy your "ice palace", or D: all of the above, except A? And the DNA reconstructioning was completely bogus, too.

With Bond being British and all, and we've had Scotish, Irish and English Bonds, and *ahem* an Australian Bond, maybe it's time for a Welsh Bond? That'd be bloody hilarious.

I fucking love bond, but that last one was pure shit, who gives a fuck about halle barry being in it unless she gets naked. I say keep them coming as long as they stop sucking.

However if clive owen becomes bond, then a new tradition will be started because connery also was in a king arthur movie. perhaps the old bonds will make the best and baddest aurthur movie of all time!
Hahaha Bana is great as Chopper, he's great as Poiter...any other character just doesn't suit him. He's a rough Aussie bloke...he'd never make a decent Bond looking like that.
The only Aussie actor that'd make a half-decent job of Bond would be Hugh Jackman, but being Wolverine kinda spoils that.
My conclusion...stick with a British Bond!
