I've been working on weather effects, and they're working quite well, depending on your computer's specs... I'm running on a laptop, a kinda shitty laptop, and I can maintain a nice 50 fps rate with the effects (when not screen recording). Ok whatever
So, the game will contain various weather effects, I coded a "Rain", "Snow" and "Sand Storm", but completely forgot about a plain simple "Fog" effect... The rain also has thunder and lightning effects, it's kinda nice. The "Snow" effect is actually more like a Blizzard, as you can see in the following video:
The screen capture software is really slowing down my frame rate, so the real thing is "smoother". Oh and you probably noticed, the video has a better "presentation" in the title design and such, I'm starting to make a devlog video serie to better show the project's progress.
For the other features, I included a better recoil, so when firing, the cross hair moves a little every where (uhm can't explain it well...), the cursor no longer leaves the screen (unless you press "ESC"), so if you're a player that likes to shoot every where, don't worry about losing the application focus and getting killed. The Lobby is yet again redesigned, same for the Profile Creation page. I also started working on other grenade types... Hehe...
Overview:

---Snow (uhm blizzard?)
---Sand storm
Recoil
Mouse no longer leaves game screen
New lobby design
New Profile Creation page
I was about to suggest something similar about the semi-transparency of the sand-storm effect. This game looks amazing, love the attention to detail with the weather, love it!
And very cool video, i'll look forward to seeing more of these as much as i'll look forward to seeing Klikcasts!!
This looks like its really coming along well.
Can someone please write an article or example showing how to make effects like that? it would be awesome...
The rain and snowstorm look awesome. Not convinced about the sandstorm though.
For the snowstorm why don't you concentrate on allowing the snow to swirl in different directions? On the video it appeared as if it were only coming in from the left side of the screen.
You're right, it was indeed coming from the left side of the screen. There are other options for the weather effects available, but it wasn't really included when I made the video
