Project: A.C.E. (formerly The Agency - Online)
Project Overview |
|
On Hiatus as of 8/2/2010
-----------------------------------
ACE (Advanced Combat Emissary) is an Overhead Online Shooter. Yeah, an online shooter game made in MMF2!
You work as a special agent (meaning you work for a special agency I guess...) that has to accomplish various missions (of course...) But as you complete missions, you unlock special features, or weapons, or powerups, or suits, or... Stuff. The game will be more focused on Online play rather than story mode, but the story mode will still be cool.
The game will run on the custom built eShooter Engine, designed to use OINC with it's full potential for the Online Play.

To see the list, use this link: http://www.ace.hostei.com/index.php?p=1_7
------------------------
So basically this project was started because I was playing around with OINC, to see what it could do. And I was quite impressed, so I kept adding stuff, and finally, I decided to make it a full game. An earlier (and more advanced) shooting system was made for another little project, but I didn't include it in the online shooter yet. I was just trying to put a bullet system quickly

Wow. First Devlog of 2010. And first devlog since... I don't really know...
I don't know how many of you fellow Clickers already heard about this project, but it's supposed to be an online shooter made in MMF2. Yeah. With such a lack of updates, it was obvious to think the project was dead. Well, it is not quite dead. More like on hiatus. So yes, maybe one day I'll continue it, but I'm not sure... I only recently restarted using MMF2 lol, and found out OINC was dead, and Lacewing was the new thing. I'll play with it a bit and see. Things haven't been really "fun" in my life in the past months and I can't really say it's getting better, but I'm fine, I guess. I still use MMF2 from time to time, but not so much. (Although I do have an entry for the 2010 20 event compo )
If you do like Online Klik Games, I'd suggest you take a look at Sumo's "Zombie Swarm" project, or try Johnny Look's "Atrox Online" game, which is actually the reason I started making an online shooter game. Thanks Johnny
And thanks for this project's team members for the help they brought at the time.

Devlog - 23/8/2009 - News

Hey guys!
It's been a long time! Sorry for the lack of news, I only recently got back from Europe. Wow. Wish I was still there... (uhm... Maybe next year? )
Sooo.... News.
Didn't really worked on the eShooter Engine, instead I focused myself on the (super) advanced Map/Arena/World/Level - Editor/Creator/Viewer/Tester. Yeah. Not justs a simple Map Editor...Oh I'm currently calling it "Architect". It won't simply be a Map Editor; the User will be able to create Levels or Worlds, depending on his game project. If he's making a Breakout-style game, he'll simply have to use a "Breakout" engine, if he wants to create an overhead map, simply use the Overhead engine, and so on.
Current Working Stuff:
Multi-Layers
TileSheet
Different Map formats
Transparency for Objects/Tiles
Customizable Map Size
Customizable Background
To-do list:
Event Objects
Customizable Map format
Option to compress a Map
Option to Block a map from being edited
Grid Setup
Tile Editor
Map Information (Author, Name, Date, Website, Comment, or similar)
Wishlist:
Ability to upload files through an online Gallery
and other stuff...
I'm also going to release an Open-Source version and a SDK version, in which the latter will contain instruction to create a custom Map Tester (for example, if you're making a MMORPG, you will be able to run your Game through Architect to test the map in your game)
College is starting soon, I'll have less free time, but I'll still work on the whole eShooter project
Note: The TileSheet used in the screenshots is from an old project I used to work on. The character sprites are from a Character in Pokemon Diamond/Pearl or something

Hey guys! I dont have much time since im using a public computer here in holland, but just wanted to let you know that Ive used some of my free time to work on various MMF2 related stuff: The MAP EDITOOR!
Works extremely well, it already has a lot of features (multi layers, transparency, object alterable values/strings, custom backgroud, custom map size, etc), but still has some work to do on the template. I like nice looking templates. Of course, ill post pictures when ill get the chance to transfer pics from my laptop. I didnt really worked on the eShooter engine, but I worked on the Map Downloader using the FileXchanger "script".
P.S. Europe is a beautiful planet country continent (oops). Only my first week and a half and already got 874 videos recorded!

Hey guys!
I'm sorry for the lack of update, and sorry for this little quick (empty) update.
I haven't been working much on the engine this week, and I couldn't even test the most recent build with the Dev Team. I've been working on other stuff, most of which you can find on www.eclektik.co.cc
Also, I'm leaving for Europe tomorrow I'm going to the Netherlands, France, Belgium, Germany, Italy and Switzerland.
Ok back on topic
I won't be able to update the game much, but here's what I can tell you for now:
Reworked lobby
New maps
New map elements
Some weapons
Powerups (Speed, Vest)
Market
Map Editor
File transfer script (to transfer map data)
Ability to import .WF files (from the weapon editor) in a match
I don't have a video this time, since my friend was unavailable and it's a little late to contact members of the Dev team, but I got some screenshots. With no one else but me
I'll be back in a month, but I'll try to submit something until then.
Buh-bye!
