One World (Not Three)

There's going to be some huge changes to H2. Most importantly, to ensure this ever gets made I'm consolidating the overall scope. I just don't have enough manpower (me) or time (how long I'm going to live, I suppose) to finish my original vision of this. Thing is, I've been working on it for way too long to just abandon it now. After all, there are a lot of games I'd like to make that aren't called Hasslevania.

So here's the solution: Take areas from the 3 planned and in progress planets and combine them into 1 main planet to explore, and reduce the main "enemy planet" into a larger-than-average final area akin to Dracula's Castle in Castlevania: Order of Ecclesia. God I hate to use a Castlevania example when I'm trying to distance these games from that franchise but it really IS the best example I could come up with.

What will this do? Well for starters some of the script is getting changed to accomodate the changes. Luckily my practice of recording voice overs is always left for the end so I won't have to bother any of the "actors" to redo any in-game lines. Other bonuses are that you won't feel like you're jumping around from place to place, like all these areas are a mishmash jumble of joints to kill stuff in. This way will make the main world seem a lot more cohesive- a more in-depth experience. Rather to have a hell of a good game than a giant one that's half-assed I always say. Or will start to say from now on.

Also in a way these proprosed changes have given the project new life. Is there still a lot left? Without a doubt. You know what? I can actually envision the ending now. I can see how the place will most likely look in my head / imagination / whatever. A lot of times before all I'd see are many things 'I WANT' to be in this, and a lot of 'HOW THE HELL DO I POSSIBLY FINISH THIS THING?' too.

So for you guys, the 10 or so people who've really been following my progress on this for a long time now: I'm making you a better game than it would've been. And for you other guys: Hey, you won't even know the difference!

I'm also at a semi-milestone progress-wise and feel I can give this here devlog the 50% completion tag finally.

You know, you could just make the areas a bit smaller. Like, instead of a planet, a small moon or something. With only about half or a fourth of the original size. Just saying.

There's too much done already to do that. I was already close to finishing up a planet anyhow so now I'll just be building upon it and making it more diverse.

One thing is that there's a lot more stuff to get and if everything's smaller there'd be like a weapon in every room. Or something like that.
