Brief notes.
-->completed 360-degree shooting engine and applied to character. Things are working fine (although I've never taken a trigonometry class in my entire life).
-->created a "two-piece" character sprite, which I'm proud I was able to figure out on my own. The lower part of the body, "the legs," is the part the player will control; when keyboard commands are entered, the player will move to the left or right, climb up or down, crouch, etc. based on the position of this lower part. The upper part, "the torso" will always remain fixed at a position just above the legs, and will change direction and animations based on the position of the mouse. I may add a third portion to the sprite--the head--which follows the position of the mouse cursor; if one doesn't, then the character sprite looks strange when aiming backwards...
-->experimented with parallax scrolling backgrounds and foregrounds, and things are going great. I intend to use these in the game, throughout all the levels.
-->the mouse cursor has been replaced with a firearm iron sight. I also placed a partially-transparent hightlight globe to surround it at all times, so it's easier to see the position of the mouse.
Possibilities.
-->allowing the player to choose which hero to play: Chiggers or Fairlane. Maybe I'll do this, depending on how sick I am of the game before the animations are done.
