Some of you may remember Atrox Online, a mmorpg I worked on some time ago. While the project had potential I lacked time to work on it and encountered some unexpected issues with mmf2's object selection which crippled the game from the beginning.
Using the experience I gained from working on it I started working on a new mmorpg from scratch, based on the same principles of Atrox Online but with some important differences.
First of all it's a roguelike and as such most of the basic concepts of the roguelike genre will be present, such as permadeath, something that has never been fully and successfully implemented in any mmorpg.
Also since I'll be using ASCII tiles this means I won't lose my time drawing sprites and I'll be able to focus my attention where it's needed and content will be added much much faster.
Right now most of the game's basics are in place such as the inventory, stats, combat system, interactions, NPC talk, trading etc...
I plan on keeping the same approach for this project, which means I'll be releasing feature-incomplete versions from time to time to gather feedback.
I should release the first version by next week or so, once most of the features are in and the game is actually playable.
