Just thought I'd give you lot an update of the new Zombies Now.
The new version has a completely new engine built from scratch in MMF2, taking advantage of new features such as alpha channels, real-time rotation and layers. I've been working on it on and off along with my trap-platformer I posted a preview of a while ago.
Features:
● Completely new and improved game engine
● Better zombie AI
● 360° Mouse aiming/shooting
● Real-time directional shadows and lighting
● New particle system for blood and pyrotechnics
● New graphics and animations
● New and improved weapons
● Same plot and storyline
It's going really well. I've only got one style of zombie at the moment but he's coded fully and stumbles about well. The weapons are cool, using the new vector movement in MMF2, super-fast bullets are simple. The flamethrower looks proper awesome in action, you can see a snippet in one of the screenshots. I'm taking advantage of the alpha channels to make everything smooth as can be, the shadows for example are real-time rotated/resized objects with alpha channels, and I've optimized the engine to only render as many as the system can handle to keep the framerate steady.
