Mario CD. yay wheeee. You are Mario and you collect coins for something. Not sure what, maybe money for a better game.

Gameplay: 3/10
The game is a platformer, where you play Mario trying to collect coins in 8 levels. If you get all the coins, a flag is destroyed and you can proceed to the very small castle (or maybe you're a very big Mario) to get to the next level, but The side of the level is close enough. There's flying enemies and stuff to annoy you and make you lose a life, but no shooting or anything, so you just have to avoid them.
The main bug in this game is the movement - it uses the standard platform movement, and the bugs haven't been fixed in it - you can still walk up walls and stop when you hit something. You don't move with the moving platforms either, and can walk off the edges of the screen in some levels.
The coins are mainly in rather annoying places, which can seem well-placed at first but can annoy you later on in the game. The enemies use path movement, so their movement is fairly predictable.

Graphics: 5/10
I'm not sure if this is purposeful or not, but Mario looks a bit orange. The graphics are probably from some other Mario game or a library of some sort, but they look too familiar to be hand-drawn. The standard of graphics isn't too bad overall, but a bit more time could've been spent touching them up. And I think the backgrounds and scenery could do with a bit more work.

Sound and Music: 5/10
The title screen music is a rather normal Mario game music. The in-game sound effects aren't too great, but aren't ear-bogglingly (is that a word) bad.
I actually had The Sims in my CDC drive (my sister put it there) so I didn't hear any music. I trust it worked, though. A good idea, but maybe you should've thought about the game a bit more.

Lastability: 3/10
There's 8 levels to play through, but the later ones are a lot harder and can take some time to beat. There is a level select which is sort of not hidden in the title screen, but you gain nothing after finishing the game other than having listened to your music. Also the bugs make it so annoying you might not want to play it again.
There's a mini-game on the Game Over page where you swat bugs and stuff, but they all appear at the same point so there's not really much point in doing it as you can just swat continuously over the same point. Yeah.

Overall: 3/10 (not an average)
I think the author has just found the CD Audio object, and has obviously had a good time using it. However, Mario isn't really used to CD-related adventures, so you'd be better off making something more adapted to the CD theme.
The bugs let this game down, especially the default platform movement. You should really learn to make a custom one, as the default one is crap. Touch up the graphics, maybe add some backgrounds, and sort out the bugs.
Pros: Custom music, some good ideas
Cons: Badly pulled off, a lot of bugs, over-used graphics
