I like zombies. Zombies are cool. There's something about the idea of zombies. I dunno, your sister trying to eat your brains, Bob from down the road suddenly starts munching on your arm, and it's a lot harder to have a conversation with your mates, cos all they seem to do is moan. Anyway, Zombie Zone is a game featuring zombies, the title being very informative of the game's content. Graphics The graphics aren't anything special, but they aren't bad either. Everything is as indentifiable as it should be. One thing I hate is the blood. To put it bluntly, it's crap. Maybe it's my sick mind, but when I make I spend ages on the blood, making sure it looks as good as possible. The blood in this game definately needs improving, as does the pyrotechnics. Sound and Music The sound effects are very fitting, and the music is nice and eerie. The zombies moan when you shoot them and there are ricochet effects for bullet impacts. The weapons sound spot on. Gameplay The game is a good, fast-paced action game, as long as the screen is still. When scrolling, the game (on my PC at least, which is well above average specs) slows down to about 25% of the static game speed. I'm sure this could be cured with a little tweaking of the Runtime options (incidently, I wrote an article about this.) The controls are a nice and simple 32 directions movement that works well. Presentation The game does not have spectacular presentation, but everything is more functional rather than fancy. Overall I think with a bit more tweaking, this could be a very good game that you would come back to a few times at least. And it's got zombies.
