Review: Unknown Game 2965

Average:1.4/10

Presentation:

The menu screen is okay... a little ugly, but it works. Text is often displayed right in the middle of gameplay in the default dark blue/system font (especially in the tutorial).

Gameplay:

There's nothing to like here. When your character respawns, he often does so in the middle of a floor, and so do enemies. The "Neo bullet dodge" move is worthless. The sort of beat 'em up gameplay promised is not here. It's more along the lines of: Jump down the platform; futilely try to dodge bullets from cartoonish soldiers; run up, and then punch and kick the soldier until he dies. You can get bonus points in your special meter just for punching a dead soldier's body over and over, until you max out your meter and accidentally lose it (because you don't know your meter is maxed out until you perform one of the special moves).

Graphics:

It's pretty clear what artwork and animation is original and what is not. The soldiers are too cartoony, but the world is presented in monotone quick backdrops and the same props over and over. The main character (who remains nameless) looks bad, but at least he's original (I think), and the animation isn't horrid.

Sound and Music:

The sounds are below average, and nothing to speak of; though the main character does make an amusing noise when he performs his backflip kick. The only music I heard during my 5 minutes of playing was both in the tutorial *and* the first mission.

Lastability:

None. It's not even bad enough to be funny; it's just kind of pathetic and annoying. I can't imagine anyone but the designer himself has, or will, beat the game for the touted "Agent" and "Focus" modes.

Overall:

It's just a poor, if inspired, effort from a beginning klikker.
