The first level of this game is fantastic. I mean, it's not unique; you just run around, shoot zombies, hit them with a shovel, and it certainly isn't pretty. I mean, the author did all his own graphics, and you've got to hand it to him for that, but these guys look a little stiff, and that shotgun action.. whoa. It's a little rough. The point is, it's fun to walk around a store killing zombies with a shotgun and a shovel, no matter how bad it looks. If the whole game had been this much fun, I would have easily been able to justify bumping it up at least a point overall. Now, it's not that the second level is bad, really. It's tough, but if you're fast, it's not too bad, up until you get to the level boss. He will basically own your ass until you use some points to buy some extra life. It's a cool touch to have a store where you can exchange points for extras, but as much as I like the first level, I am not going to play it enough to save up points to buy the amount of life I'll need to kill that tree. Oh, my god. First, he's got roots that come up through the game to kill you. Then, he breathes zombie fireball all over you. It's rough. It's also not that much fun. Speaking of not fun, there's the third level. Basically, you're forced to drive a car around for the whole level, and believe me, you would be a lot better off without it. It's almost impossible to steer, and it goes the wrong way in reverse. So, basically, you're going to crash into a lot of cars. And when you're trying to outrun the chase cam thing, well, it's kind of a pain in the ass. And then you're expected to fight some kind of boss in this thing. Well, it's just ridiculous at this point to even keep going. So, I have no idea what the fourth level is like. I can only imagine it involves being duct-taped to a chair while zombies put their cigarettes out in your eyeballs. Now, I liked the prologue. It looks nice, and it sums up the story of the films pretty succinctly. Of couse, I lost a bit of it driving over the bridge, because the font was the same color as the chasm, but that's a minor thing. I also like the interface. The author puts a lot of extras into his games, and while it doesn't make me want to play any more than I would otherwise, it's a nice touch. If it weren't for that goddamn car level, this would be a pretty decent game. Thumbs up in spite of it.
