The Daily Click ::. Downloads ::. Review Review: Unknown Game 3696
That was nice, it wasn't a big download at all. Of course, it isn't a big game at all either, having been made in a mere week. Much like the early Maxis games, there's no real aim to this game apart from the idea of amassing as many points as possible (this gives a time limit of 50 rounds, so maybe it's not as pointless as all that). Anyway, you achieve this by building things in a randomly generated grid of fields. Forests and rocks are strewn around, and you have to use these resources to your advantage by building lumber mills and quarries next to them. Once you've collected them you can build houses, farms and other buildings to make your population grow. It's as simple as that, and the more population you have the better your score will be at the end of the game. The graphics, while absolutely minute, are well-drawn and you can make out what they're meant to be. Of course, the game isn't presented well because of the time limit for the competition for which it was entered. That really is all there is to it. I'm beginning to understand why the review I removed contained space filler, as there really isn't much else to say. While the game mechanics are certainly very impressive, the game isn't that much fun to play - unless you like tedious build-em-ups like Clonk. I think I'll ask Quadralien to give his opinion. This could be interesting if it was developed further, though - perhaps we could see a Click version of Die Siedler Von Catan? What, no one's heard of it? Never mind, then. By the way, I'm having to judge this game differently because of the circumstances - if there was a "Programming/Mechanics" section then it would receive a high score in that. It's like a demonstration of what can be done in Click if you try.
