The Daily Click ::. Downloads ::. Review Review: Unknown Game 5386
There are few series that are universally recognised and waited for by all. Star Wars. The Godfather. Ready, Steady, Cook. But none so much as the underground cult that is the Time Cog Saga. Eagerly anticipated, yet surprised us all. You shall find out why. As usual, cinematic direction precludes every game in this series. With an amazing array of anachronisms, annotations and aristrocracy, Apotheosis accentuates and ameliorates, although alliteration is not prevalent in any part of the game. Indeed, it is an exact example of exemplary presentation, and every clicker should learn from this game. Music is superbly and precisely chosen to fit the exact mood. From a deep sense of foreboding in the intro, to angst-filled emo music during the game over screen (because it is unique and overlooked.), you won't feel any need to turn it off and listen to your favourite punkrock/metal/deathmetal/numetal/shi'itemetal tracks. My only problem is that the sound effects aren't sampled at 48000Hz for superior quality. Graphics are excellent. Cunning use of 'hypnosis boxes' deployed by the enemy plus the evil Image of Phizzy, which almost hypnotise you! Truly, a first for the series and videogames in general (except for that bit in MGS where it says 'HIDEO' in the top right, like it's controlling your telly - even though it should be on the left on mine! fools!). Never before has a game made me vomit and a copy will be sent to the Daily Mail ASAP. Gameplay is groundbreaking, yet simple and back to videogame roots. This game ditches the ideas of moving and instead keeps you in a corner, giving the feeling of imminent doom and an intense need for survival shown only in the game 'Defender' (which, despite a large radar to see enemies, only allowed up/down movement and looking in one direction - and no firing!). Common ideas are turned on their head with this one. However, it would be nice to see some more variance in the enemy cogs, (although in reality time cogs are manufactured in the PRC and look exactly the same.) There is innovative use of the lack of help files by labelling every element in the game (and obvious controls). Lastability: This is guaranteed to last you until the next Time Cog game. And who knows when that will come? Next month... or YESTERDAY?! Working it out for yourself will take lots of time in itself. OVERALL: A great addition to the series which moves the genre and indeed the whole industry forward.
