The Daily Click ::. Downloads ::. Review Review: Mario Adventure
Presentation: After double clicking the icon you get to see a rather small window with a grey background and a small mario sprite, (from mario allstars i think) This isnt exactly classic mario since the games usually have a very colourful title screen also there is no music on the title screen either but a small bleep. Still the intro improves the score slightly but i have to ask why mario walk left and right constatnly until you press enter? Gameplay: After about 3 seconds you can tell this either uses the built in movement or the buggiest custom engine ever. You may think Fangame + built in engine = LEAVE ALONE NOW!!! But it's not bad at all. The worst part i found is that mario will sometimes not fall after walking off the edge of a platform. Jumping on enemies and coins are intact to an extent but there is a lot missing from the originals. You can however pick up grass, blocks and mushrooms and drop them strategically. Its a shame the level design isn't too well thought out because this is a good idea really. Infact the levels are flat, they never go above the screen height and that is not a lot with such a small screen. Graphics: I bet you guessed it already, ripped. They work well considering they are ripped from various games, mostly Super mario world. Sound and music: Yeah same here, sounds from Super mario world and midi music from Various gameboy games, sounds okay but nothing we havent all heard before a million times. Lastability: Quite a while infact, i didn't finish the game but the levels i did play were pretty long and not as mind numbimly boring as some mario fangames. I wont play this too often though. Overall: A good effort but nowadays we expect more from click games.
