The Daily Click ::. Downloads ::. Review Review: Unknown Game 466
I don't play klik games that much. Usually I play only those I heard they're good, or those I have something to learn from them. I just have so many things to do on my limited Internet time, that I can't waste it on downloading games I'm not sure I'm gonna like. One day I entered the Daily Click. There was a game there called "G vs E 2" with a little screenshot that really reminded me Rayman. Oh, Rayman...the days I spent playing it, battling Mr. Sax, the Space Mama and all the rest. Why not get back those fun days? And I might actually learn something from this game. I expected it to be a 30 minutes gameplay and delete procedure. Downloaded the game, double-clicked on the file. Nothing. WinXP or the game is to blame? I don't know. I just opened it using Winace and it was ok. Installed the game. Ok, let's begin playing. Upon starting G vs E 2, a loud MIDI attacked me, making me to mute the speakers 'till I put down the volume. Press Space...all right. Ok, the game began. Like I thought, this is a Rayman style platform game, with a little yellow creature. I began in a tutorial level, which explained the controls and how everything works. Quite useful, althought I disagree about it being a must-play level. At the end of the tutorial level I met the blue creature (which is VERY similar to the yellow creature...lazy sprites artist?). The blue creature is the bad guy. Then I saw the cut-scene. First of all, in graphic terms, this is the most beautiful cut-scene I've ever seen in a klik game! It has very nice 3D models, and there's shading and everything that is needed. But...the cut-scene was a bit odd...the good guy and bad guy know each other from somewhere. By the time they figure it out, you're just watching a couple of idiots having an "empty" conversation with lots of holes of silence. Anyway, let's go on... The concept in the levels is simply going right, hitting everything that moves. Not really complicated level design. You need to kill ANOTHER creature that looks like you (I won't ask that question again), a flying bomb, a walking bomb, and (a bit before the end) pirates. When you kill an enemy, you get coins, which their use in the beginning wasn't clear to me. It seems to be the scoring system. Too bad you can't get bonus points or something. I reached a boss level. It took me 2 lives to understand the trick in the level, and when I played it on the 2nd time, it was quite easy. The 2nd boss was much more difficult, on the other hand. Even when I knew what to do. The boss levels are the only parts it's reasonable for you to lose lives. After I defeated the bad guy for the 3rd time, I finished the game. That's it?! No wonder there's no save option in it. Well, it was quite fun while it lasted. Like my favorite computer games hero, Max Payne: "It was all over" and "I released my finger off the trigger". There's no reason to play the game again, unless you're bored, since there aren't any new places to explore, no fun easter eggs to find, no special new modes (like time racing). Oh, well... The game seems to use custom platform movement. It's good, althought there are some glitches, like when you get hit while jumping, sometimes you see the player's character twice. But all the rest is just great. The last thing I can say, this is a good game, if you want to make 30 minutes fly by. You won't find a point in playing the game again later. But the game is worth downloading. The game would be one of the "big ones" in the klik hall of fame if it had better design, more to do in it, and improved storyboard. But like the bad guy said in the ending, he'll take over the world even if it'll take a million sequals. A million sequals will sure be good to gain experience in making the perfect klik platform game.
