Ever played monkey island 1 or 2? Thought it was great? Well... so do i. This game however, A pirates life, is the klik equivalent of monkey island... 3. The interface is so basic, Click on an object and it get stuck in your inventory/used/talked to etc. But unfortunatly, there is no indication that an object can be picked up, because all there is is your mouse cursor, no hand, no eye, no mouth. It's basic, archaic and most of all, ugly. The graphics are terrible - they are drawings using atleast an 9 pixel wide brush, giving it a 'i drew this when i was 2' look. The music is earshatteringly horrific, and it compounded an already angry headache. Not only does the main charachter (Tohep, more like an egyptian pharoh than a pirate) doesn't move properly (especially on the 'finger island' part) and you have to constantly click and click and click to move him 4 pixels. You get no indication of what's in your inventory when you hover over it. The only reason i got far in this game was because i randomly clicked everywhere on every screen and i managed to do something, i think i managed to saw through solid rock with a saw (i never even knew there was a wall) The 'cut scenes' are either too brief or too long, with dialog that is as funny as a Nazi concentration camp. I hate to say this about and adventure game, but don't download this... you may not live to regret it.
