Talent, it seems, is hard to come by on the DC these days. Every so often though, we see a surge of light escaping, reminding us that there are talented people out there, who DO know what they're doing. WE DO WHAT WE LIKE AND WE LIKE WHAT WE DO Anyway. This game is very promising indeed. Even though at this itme, I haven't actually seen any combat, I am still very impressed. First of all, the intro is very good. Very high quality pictures that look great, particularly in the chosen low resolution... reminded me of early 90's DOS games. The pictures tell the story just as well as any FMV would. I liked the story too. A recently-descovered island with mysterious pyramids is discovered, and the main character's father and his research team have decided to lose their will to live in the name of science and discovery. Or something. Anyway, something goes wrong and your father, along with the team of reseachers has gone missing. You decide to enter the pyramid to make sense of what happened... Presentation in-game is superb. It hits you right from the start - a very good looking lens flare effect occurs as you walk past the sun. I'm not sure if this is widely used or anything, but I really liked that effect. The graphics within the pyramid itself could've been better - for example the "climbable" walls could be turned into all sorts of things - stone carving that you can climb up, notches in the wall... just anything but bright blue squares, because they look kind of out of place. I liked the dialogue in the game's cut-scenes too. I spotted a few spelling mistakes and typos so you may want to double-check the dialogue, but otherwise the words were well chosen and were enough to draw me in. I wo'nt give away too much of what happens inside the pyramid, but I will say that I have yet to find anything to shoot at... so bear this in mind. Finally, the MUSIC. Oh, man the music in this game is reason enough to download it. I mean, I'm serious, I would happily throw those .mp3s into a winamp playlist and listen to them. Of course, it's not quite up there with Ennio Morricone or John Williams, but the music not only sets the scene and mood, but it's full of depth and emotion. So a multitiude of thumbs up for that. Only Freddy McStupidface would refuse to download this. So do so now. NOTE: The lastability is hard to define because I don't know how much there is in this demo. But I'm sure this will be long-term one if he gets it done.
