Have you ever wanted to create a dance game, or any sort of game that follows the rythm to a piece of music? If so, then you might want to check this out. I'd created an example/engine a while back, but not going anywhere with the project, decided to give it away for public knowledge.
This example source and demonstration will show you how one would go about timing events so that they occur at the same time as beats in a song. It will also give an approximation (within 50ms or as close as MMF's framerate and event execution will allow) of the BPM of the song, and the amount of ticks per frame.
