EDIT: Updated the description, cos I think people missed the point of the Tech Demo, LOL!
EDIT: Updated the download so it's a little less buggy. The Glare effect is now improved a little, and the menu works.

This is my first upload in aaaaages, so cut me some slack, LOL!

It's a tech demo to demonstrate a Sun Glare effect I've been working on.

BASIC DESCRIPTION

Your character is a little sheep, wandering around in this small platform world. Go off and LoOk aT tHe sUN!

FEATURES

. Grabbing ledges (you'll see grabbable ledges marked by a little grey blob).
. Smooth fade/blend between the paused game screen and the menu. This example fades, but you can keep the background opaque and simply alpha some smooth menu options over the top.
. A custom movement, but I don't like it.
. Some Fwoofy alpha clouds.
. A basic example of some paralax, nothing fancy.
. A glare effect I was trying to achieve from the sun. This is the main reason I uploaded this, I want your opinions on how it looks. The closer you are to the sun, the more glare comes to the screen. However, the glare is blocked by obstacles in the way (see the third Screenshot? Those dark columns will block out the glare when you stand behind them). It also features a rough intermediary effect, where the glare is only partially dimmed if the central point of the sun is blocked, but the outer rim is visible.

MISC DETAILS
320x240 Full-screen game (changes res to suit)
Built in MMF2.
EXE only (no MFA file), so those without MMF2 can still run it.
FPS limit of 70fps.

Grande Abraço Amigos!

Oh yeah, and if there are any problems with my webhost, tell me. They've been acting up lately.

When the character falls off the screen, the camera shakes around.

Other than that, it's pretty good. The character's a bit to small for the screen, though.

What about the sun glare effect? Did you even notice it?

Posted by Retired Kliker Lazarus 21st October, 2006

That was really good. I had no problems with it.

I must get my hands on this "MMF 2" of which you speak...as soon as I am rich again.

If you own MMF1.5 legally, you can get a 42% discount code (makes it £43 instead of £74!)

Even if you don't have your serial anymore, if you bought it from Clickteam's webshop, you can tell them the details and they'll look up the invoice for you (that's what they did for me)

Well.. im not really impressed over grabbing onto stuff..

And just alittle impressed over the Glare effect..
It needs a smoother fade to the glare.

its pretty cool, i Like it how the glare cuts off when you go behind a pillar, the other stuff a little average though.

Yeah, the platform movement isn't great. It's my first ledge grabbing thingummy, but it's not hard to achieve.

well judging by the screenshots i'll need a magnifying glass... nontheless *downloads*

Lol, does everyone seriously think the character's too small? At fullscreen he seems alright to me. I find bigger sprites hog the screen a bit in my opinion...
