The new Top Sword is sporting some (in my opinion) pretty cool and more complex features then i could program before.

Top Sword is a Role Playing Game i've been working on for some time now, some of you may have played the old version on my website a while back.. Well, i decided to rebuild the engine from scratch. So here it is!

Such additions are:
+ Journal for saving up to 6 current quests and adding your own journal entries in-game.
+Improved Conversation engine allowing for multiple questions to be asked by one character with the possibility of non yes-no answers.
+New inventory screen allowing for 20 of three item types "Misc","Battle" and "Quest"
+New Saving Engine that allows for the fact that you may not have wanted to save your progress and can revert to the last save if you don't save instead of forcing a save on exit like the old engine.
+New levelling up engine that shows cumulative experience gains on screen (e.g 40+50+10 exp gains within 20 seconds will show as "100 Experience Gained")

And much more tidbits and things i've probably forgotten to mention!

Controls are:
Arrow Keys - Move Player
Shift - Interact with world
Ctrl - Access Menu/Cancel
Enter - Access Quick Information Screen/Confirm Actions

Test Controls:
Press "n" for 15 EXP

Known Bugs:
+The characters can only be spoken to from certain directions.. i.. well, i was lazy.

Anyways, tell me what you think!
Constructive critisism please..

::Edit::
+When starting a new character press "1" to completely reset everything, i kept the events seperate so that i only had to reset when it was really needed.

Oh, by the way, the mini-game was just to test frame swapping and quest completing events.. Hence its cornyness

I won't put this in the GOTW until the final version is released - as I see this is a BETA? Hope that's okay with you!

Pretty cool game so far, keep it up!

Haha, thats all good, it wouldn't have a chance of winning without it being complete anyways! Glad you guys like it, i'm trying to think of a good battle engine for the game.. i've already made one.. but its very generic, i want something a bit more unique.

Any suggestions?

You could make something like 'Punch-out!!' for fighting. Not that I could help you

But either way, this is a good engine, keep it up!

lol I like that Punch Out idea was a big fan of Super Punch Out on the SNES.

Hmm, lol, i'll have to have a look at it, never heard of it! I was thinking maybe a mix of Paper Mario's fight engine, i loved that engine, so much fun!

this has potential.

although your characters look like pokemon sprites (i guess they're edits?)

Actually I drew everything from scratch. I was trying to capture the style of Pokemon Ruby/Sapphire though...

..AND.. i can't really draw, so i needed something to look at whilst attempting to.. they came out okay.

Very nice game, but there are a LOT of glitches. As soon as you fix all of them up and finish the game, this could DEFINITELY win the GOTW.

Oooh, could you please tell me some of the glitches? On my computer the engine is almost 100% stable.
