Hi, I'm AsparagusTrevor and I like booze. That introduction was for anyone who doesn't know me.
Now, what are people's (who are old enough) favourite booze. What kind of alcoholic drink do you like to consume, and in what situation?
Well for me it is Guinness first, mostly in a pub environment when I can sit down, smoke a Hamlet cigar and chat with random people. When I'm in a nightclub I like to stick to bottled beer, usually consisting of Newcastle Brown or Carling (cos Carling's only £1 a bottle where I go). When it comes to shots, I like the full blown Tequila experience, salt, lemon and tequila, and when it comes to the lonely bottle drinking at home, it's vodka, preferably black vodka, but that's more expensive.
So what's other people's preferences? Anyone else? Muggus?
Well I'm still currently underage, but I've been drinking for two years. My favorite drink is Sleemans Honeybrown, good flavor, nice colour, and just above smooth. When taking shots I take Either Barcardi or Rum. My favorite atmosphere is at a pub with some friends around.
Yeah, I'm here finally Buster. I was actually too busy drinking over the weekend to visit TDC unfortunately. Stout one night to a watermelon spiked with bacardi the next. Not to mention the fact I started brewing a beer on Saturday. So it was an eventful weekend.
Anyway, as for 'favourites' go I have a number of choices.
The best drink i've ever had, which was kinda like a religious experience for me, was a Rochefort Trappist 10. A strong Belgian ale...11.3% alcohol...oh baby. Absolutely amazing. But way to expensive to drink often.
My choice drinks at the pub are Aussie beers in the form of Tooheys Old (a dark ale) and Coopers Sparkling Ale. The latter being probably one of the best Aussie beers out there.
Otherwise it's either JD & Cokes or Southern Comfort & coke/dry.
I generally don't vary my drinks.
At the moment I just finished my 4th Boags Draught for the evening. Not bad.
Oh and you mention Newcastle Brown Trev. I must say i'm a big fan. I've had it off tap at an Irish pub in Sydney and it's gotta be one of the best pints i've ever had. The bottle version doesn't seem to impress me as much though.

Good show. Those of us who understand the benefits of turps can continue to talk about it, those who don't needn't wear their ignorance like a badge.
This weekend was pretty great, this weekend we had a formal valedictory dinner so I got to look awesome in black and silver with blue hair. Afterwards there was a 'barn dance,' which means standing in the courtyard getting tanked to country music. I didn't participate in that bit, but a few hours later we got together in the common room with a couple of goon casks and played Mao (best card game ever) all night and all morning, then the following day there was a recovery, which means lying around in the courtyard and getting tanked. Myself and a friend dragged a couch out and made an umbrella out of blankets and voleyball poles, and I sat there all day drinking and spraying people with a hose. Then that night someone stole a keg of Old, so we stayed up till the wee hours in the back oval with it.
Don't drink a huge amount. Honestly I can't stand beer it tastes like grandma...
Southern Comfort and Coke, Black Russians (Half Vodka, Half Kahluha, with ice... all goodness) Bourbon is always good...
I'm no Muggus I'm afraid... so sad...
Show me the power child,
I'd like to say,
That I'm down on my knees today,
Gives me the butterflies,
Gives me away,
'Til I'm up on my feet again,
I'm feeling outshined.
Hey Muggus, I had that Rochefort stuff, there's a pub in the town centre where I live that has about 200 ales, they've got Rochefort 8,10 and 12 I think they are. One of the worst I from there had was Semiclaus, apparently in the Guinness Book of Records for being the strongest ale, at 13%. There were a group of about 7 of us, it was the last pub we were going to before a nightclub, and only me and someone else liked them, so we shared everyone else's between us, then about half an hour later I suddenly couldn't remember anything else.
The most popular beer at St Andrews is Erdingers, I think. However, despite being past the age limit (which might as well be about 14 where I come from) I don't drink alcohol, just by personal choice. On top of that, most carbonated drinks or anything containing caffeine make me physically sick. It rather limits my options, really.
Well it's gonna be hard cos I like all the drinks that are nice.
I'll try again: Jim Beam is better than Jack Daniels. Better not let my dad see this though, he might disown me.
Don't take the piss out of Heineken, that's all the flavour it has... anyway, I found that replacing vodka bottles with water works best when people are too drunk to notice. I'd change it for meths but the colour gives it away
Wow, nothing even close to that has ever happened to me. I'm a pretty responsible drunk, never really got into any fights or caused any trouble or anything. I guess it has different effects on people, that's why you have to know your limits and stick to them, which is cool when you don't seem to have limits.
this reminds me of a beach party 4 years ago or so, I had 12 of those filthy candy-ish breezers and lots of beer. People say I was trying to walk on the water.
It really depends on who you are. Some people can get pissed and are well safe, others get pissed and turn violent and start fights and shit like that. Most of the guys and gals I drink with are real sound anyway. If you can't handle booze or if it makes you aggressive, then you probably shouldn't drink it.
"Say you're hanging from a huge cliff at the top of mt. everest and a guy comes along and says he'll save you, and proceeds to throw religious pamphlets at you while simultaniously giving a sermon." - Dustin G
I dont see the big deal about drinking either, i only have a few when i go out.
Anyhow Banks's has got to be the best, as you can get Noddy Holder Badges!!!! (Slade). I only ever drink 1) Banks's, 2) Fosters Or 3) Guiness. (And Muggus Fosters in the UK is brewed in the UK and therfore can not contain any dingo piss!)
Glenfiddich has got to be one of the best Whiskeys i have ever tasted, its a good single malt, (Southern Comfort is up there too tho) Jack Daniels is rough compared to Glenfiddich.
Que Slade:
"And here it is merry christmas now and everybody is having fun, heres to the future now it's only just begun"
He was completely stoned when he writ that, and i come from the same area as he come from .
Firstly, Trev, i'm not sure if there's a Rochefort 12. They have the 6, 8 and 10. Unless, of course, you're talking about the Westvleteren 12, which is apparently the best beer in existance and i'd kill everyone in this forum to try one.
As for strongest ales go, i'm not sure. The strongest beer in the world itself is somewhere around 25% and is a barley wine. Not that i've ever tried it, but I could imagine it wouldn't be anything too "beer" tasting to most.
Wong: As for Erdingers, there tend to be a number of beers with that name. I've tried the Weissbier (wheat beer), Weissbier Dunkel (dark wheat), and Pikantus (dark wheat bock). The latter was probably my favourite.
As for Heineken...not a fan. It's fuckin expensive here as is, and is nothing more than a shitty skunky lager. There are better lagers you can get here for almost half the price a case!!!
As for JB being better than JD. You gotta be kiddin me Trev. JB has nothing on JD. Less alcoholic, weaker flavour, and JD is still smoother. Let the flame ignite!
HagarTech: Fosters is still a crappy lager, not matter where it's brewed. You live in the UK man, you have plenty of nice ales and bitters over there dammit!
And i'm sure Glenfiddich is nice...but the fact of the matter is it's a single malt...ie fuckin expensive, especially down these parts. So i've never had the chance to sample it. Actually, i've tried a sip of it on the rocks, but that's nothing really.
As for drunken antics, who gives a shit. I lost my pride many many years ago, and so I don't care what happens when drunk, cause chances are i've done worse!

Meh i'll try again...I only drink foster's or guiness when my beloved Banks's is not available, as some trendy (and therefore shitty) pubs do not stock most British ales...
In general i dont like lager at all, thats why drink I Banks's Mild or Bitter, , a proper British drink with no need for australian mullet adverts ...
Muggus, I'm not sure what the criteria are, but I'm certain Semiclaus is in the Guinness Book of records as strongest ale. That Rochefort stuff, I knew there was three different ones on the beer menu I saw, but I couldn't really remember the numbers. And the JB vs JD thing, I'm not slagging off Jack in any way, I just slightly prefer Jim. Plus there are two common different strength Jim Beams, but a rare stronger Jack Daniels that nowhere seems to have.
Booze is different all around the world anyway.
