Themepark or the Rollercoaster Tycoon series?
Okay ive just had this discussion with phizzy and he seems to think themepark was better but im so damn sure Rollercoaster tycoon allowed you to be more creative and gave bigger selection.(not that im biasing this in any way). I brought it up because of the new rollercoaster tycoon 3 expannsion being released tommorow- anyone into this game? Its ok if u like that kinda thing but my computers too slow to run it at the moment...

Haha, Roller Coaster Tycoon 1 was the best, only because, I've never played the others. Good game!

Roller Coaster Tycoon is bigger and better in terms of variety and openendedness (yay for making up words), but honestly I had a lot more fun playing ThemePark.

Yeah, roller coaster tycoon allows you to build HUGE roller coasters, theme park(im guessing) just allows you to make small ones but ride in them. ?

Themepark.
Heh I still even have my old Theme Hospital. But yeh I got bored of RCT after like a day from just doing the same things over and over again, plus I found it more dull than themepark.

RollerCoaster Tycoon no doubt. RCT1 was great, but RCT2 is the best, not such a big fan of the 3rd one though. Even though its 3D, its ALOT more hassle then it is fun & personally, I like the second one a hell of alot better. I dont really see myself buying the expansion pack, nor getting the CD for the game out much anymore. I still play RollerCoaster Tycoon 2 with both expansion packs, very good game. Ok, so maybe you cant ride your rollercoasters in it, but I'd rather build a thribing themepark that I cant ride rides in, then a 3D one, always in debt because I cant work around the growing lag, as more & more guests enter the park. As for your question, if anyone was into the game, I'd have to say I've been into the game for around 4-5 years, little bit after the original one game out I guess, still play the game, still love the game, that & SimCity 4, but I play RCT2 more often then SimCIty 4.

I havent played Rollercoaster Tycoon 1 or 2. Ive got RCT 3, it's good but there were absolutely tonnes of bugs in it as Atari rushed it out in time for Christmas, although after 2 patches its much better. Another problem with RCT 3 you need a tank of a PC to run it smoothly, I have an Athlon 64 3000, 1GB RAM, Radeon 9600XT, Audigy 2, way above the recommended spec, and the sound glitches up and the frame rate chugs at a snails pace once youve built rides and everything on half the available land.
Ahh, Theme Park, I remember my brother got it when it came out and we had to upgrade to 8MB RAM to run it, although it was worth it, built some amazing parks with that game.

I think the only reasion the expansion pack for RCT3 is worth buying, is tunnles. Because they rushed RCT3, they didnt add tunnles into the original RCT3, so now they think they can make it up in expansion packs. Personally, I can wait until they have there heads on just a little bit more. The game is full of bugs, its slow, its a hassle to build stuff... RCT2 is pretty much everything RCT1 should have been, & more. Making a 3D RCT game was a very good idea, but they ended up trashing it do to rushing the game & not spending nearly enough time on it. I think I'll stick with RCT2. Alot better then SimCoaster, I know that much for sure.

zoo tycoon 2's quite good for a 3d park building game. I bought it when it came out and keep re-installing it every couple of months to play it again.o_0 It doesnt run as slow as rct3 when youve built a fair sized park and you can go into your zoo and look at the animals...okay im not that bad.

The whole 3D idea wasnt bad, but the fact that the people who made it were lazy & didnt fix hardly anything in patches that shouldnt have even needed to be made in the first place, is the reasion the 3D one sucked so badly. Its nothing but alot of bugs & its harder to play because of the small details that are nearly impossable to keep track of such as making sure the land is 100% completly flat or else your paths wont connect right or what ever. Its just alot of stupid stuff that made the 3D one suck.

Rollercoaster Tycoon definately. Graphics were better, creativeness was better, fun was more. Theme Park doesn't even come close (and I do have Theme Park and Theme Park World).

The new expansion pack for RollerCoaster Tycoon 3 does add alot to the game that the original was missing, including tunnels, which to be honest was the only real reasion I got the game.
I havent gotten to making a real good park with Soaked, because I've spent to much time experementing with the new pool options, lasers, & rides. Once I get the hang of it all though, I'll start building.

The 3d walking around thingy for psone themepark was the suck. I loved Themepark on the Megadrive, probably because I was fed up playing Sonic 2 all the time.
The worst part was probably the no mid park save option.

I first started out with just making swimming pools with the expansion pack, but now I'm starting to get back to making actual parks, with the swimming pools as an addition to the park is all. The pack is really cool, though its still pretty obvious that the whole tunnels thing was added just to get people to buy the expansion pack. I doubt it was because of rushing things, they didnt seem to have much of a problem getting the tunnels into the pack as they said they would have in the original. I dont know how people can get such large parks without getting frame loss. I have a Radeon 9250 PCI with 256Megs, which may not be the best, but you think think I would get a park a little bigger then 5-6 rides before I start losing frames.

I'm not sure really, I just know that for me, it looks cool for coasters & makes building nicer looking paths with cleaner looking parks.
Overall its all about (for me) making things LOOK better.
The addition of water falls was a very nice addition! They look amazing, I just wish they were slightly easyer to mold the land currectly so they come out the way you plan. This new expansion pack really adds alot to the game, personally I'm playing it alot more then I play RollerCoaster Tycoon 2.

RollerCoaster Tycoon 2 was the one that used 2D isometric art. It was very well done, but the game, though alot of the graphics are to blocky, does look nice in 3D. The only problem is, its to hard on your PC. The engine they used pretty much blows, because it starts to lag quickly. You start to lose frames almost instently after you build 2-3 rides & open your park for people to ride them. Even if its a few frames, it really starts to build up after you start getting a nice sized park. Thats the big difference between 2 & 3 that keeps me enjoying RCT2. I can play RCT2 for hours without getting any lag, but RCT3 only has me for about an hour or 2 per park before I have to restart because its not fun to fight the frame loss.
