"Does Nintendo even HAVE that much different characters? (I mean the empty spaces)"
well of course they don't have the 30 odd F-Zero GX racers, the 500 or so Pokemon, the guys n gals from WaveRace, The amount of different bad guys and Toad from Mario, Tingle, SA-X, Dark Samus, more of the Fire Emblem, Advance Wars, Kirby crews... this is the point i got bored looking half way though my GC collection.
of course the owner of the most game franchises hasn't got enough characters!
sorry but it was a silly thing to say
and mr.topic creator; thats Black Bull/whatever his name is from F-Zero not Batman.
Of course they do! Mario, Lugi, Mario in Mario Bros. 2, Mario and Lugi in Mario Bros 3, Yoshi, Mario, Lugi from Mario World, Mario 64, Mario Sunshine Mario, and so on.
Fine Garbage since 2003.

If anything they could just add a few of the pokemon (heard they're up to 376).
"Isn't it always amazing how we characterize a person's intelligence by how closely their thinking matches ours?"

I had Super Smash Bros and someone stole it. I still have Super Smash Bros Melee. I was waiting to see when Dedede made it into the fight. They only had Kirby alone there for the first too games.
Next up for Super Smash Bros, we have Totakeke from Animal Crossing
I've only played SSB Melee, have it for GameCube, & most of the time when friends come over, we play & I'm almost always Kirby, dont want to say I win every single time, expecially sence most of the time, we just set it up so that there isnt any winner, its just smash after smash, a good hour or two, it proves to be quite fun/funny. Does anyone else find the game humerious at all? For example, I accidently found out that when your mini kirby, & place a mine under you. Do your little 'battle cry' or 'taunt', you know, his little "AhhhhHHHAaaa.." thing, then as the mine explodes, the cry seems to go from happy, to panic. And has anyone noticed that its nearly impossible to stand & throw the red turtle shell & not get hit? As soon as you toss it, it instently turns around & smashes into you.. O.o;
Anyway, I'd love to see another Super Smash Brothers, but I highly doubt it would give me a reason to buy the Revolution. It would be the only reason if any, for buying the Revolution, nothing else sparks my interest. Not even the controller.
I cant wait for the Rev version. The only thing that could possibly make Smash Bros any greater would be online play, which is the only thing that has been announced so far, "an online Smash bros". I'm hoping theres more Pokemon in the next one, at least 10 or so...
infact im going to break my console playing fast and play a bit on Smash Bros Melee
my characters are Fox, Mario, Falco, Mewtwo, Young Link, Pichu, Kirby, Roy. probably in that order too
as for the controller Fragasnap; you are probably one of the 99% of the whole world who dont know what Nintendo are releasing a shell controller for regular games on the Rev. How the Rev controller will work for Smash Bros I dont know. but its nintendo. they always find a way.
I like most of the characters, as I know how to use each of their abilities correctly. I do the best with Pikachu. Pokemon are cool. I can be aggressive, defensive, or in the middle. I'm also very good at destroying level 1 characters in a matter of seconds.
Yeah, Fox is very solid. I use him whenever I'm playing someone challenging. But when last I was playing (months ago...) I was trying to get good with Ganondorf. He's a fucking tank as long as you don't get double-teamed.
Usually when I use Kirby, I just change him Blue, I dont even use him Pink. Theres no real difference, I just think he looks better blue. Atleast in SMBM, but thats just me.
Again, kirby sucks. I'm best with fox on the original, but I realized that on Melee that Marth + C-stick id much better. And how can you hate the ice climbers?
They said they're adding Toad and Wario because of a poll they ran. I've got no clue what kind of attacks toad would have, but whatever. I can't wait for the online play!
Shiek is the best, but Zelda is lame. They should throw some Resident Evil characters in the new one. Since Capcoms been releasing the RE games on gamecube.
c'mon...everyone knows that falco is the most balanced character...he's just as good as fox except for the speed! his jump is higher, his gun actually has knock-back, and he's just all-around easier to control than fox. ooh, that over+a smash roundhouse kick...
yeah tho, the characters they DO need to add in the next SSB game are:
-DIDDY KONG (ahhh...)
-PACMAN
-MEGAMAN
-SONIC
-METAKNIGHT
...but one thing is for sure. NOT WARIO OR WALUIGI. Those faggots ruin every game they're in...grr...
Why would Pacman or Megaman be in the next Smash Bros? take a look at the characters in the game already; they're Nintendo characters (HAL is just another room in the Nintendo HQ). Waluigi would be a good addition. He'd be powerful, slightly heavy. a good contender for Captain Falcon or the Fire Emblem crew.
It is like Tekken, if Tekken was fun.
The 3 starter pokemon from Ruby will definitely be in there. Smash Bros Melee has all the starters from previous Pokemon games.
I'm fairly sure HAL and CREATURES aren't 2nd-party, just very close with Nintendo, and Silicon Knights isn't anymore. Whether the newer Pokemon (as opposed to the originals, which Nintendo would retain ownership over) are under Nintendo's control I don't know.
However, Capcom and Namco have developed Zelda and Starfox games respectively, which are big-title Nintendo franchises. There's no reason to think that they wouldn't necessarily allow use of their characters. I seriously doubt Pacman though, since he's not really associated with the NES. But there's at least a chance of Megaman. Hopefully not the gay battle network version though.
I'll be suprised if Sonic isn't in it. Yeah, he's about as far from a Nintendo character as you can get, but Sega are good guys now and fans would cream themselves over a Mario vs. Sonic matchup.
"Why would Pacman or Megaman be in the next Smash Bros?"
While Pacman was my own personal idea, I realized that he really wouldn't have any useful moves, and would probably suck as a character. And I think he's owned exclusively by Namco (but I'm not sure).
MEGANMAN, however...how can you even question that? They NEED new characters in the next game, and it's just as logical to put Megaman in it as it is to put Sonic in it, if not MORE logical. Nintendo still has some rights to Megaman, and if he's not in it, less-cool characters like Wario and Waluigi will replace him.
Now Sonic...there's an amazing contender. His controls would be so incredibly natural, it's insane. For instance, his DOWN+B would definitely have to be the rolling spin charge move, and maybe his NEUTRAL+B would be like a coin toss or something, idk...but he definitely needs to make an appearance in this game. Not Jeff or Paula.
(for the above comments
...and yeah, Kirby majorly sucks in Melee. I was AMAZING with him in the original SSB (his OVER+A smash attack and DOWN+A air attacks were phenomenal), but he just got weaker, lighter, and maybe even slower in Melee. It's a BIG disappointment to me, especially that his RUNNING+A attack suddenly lost it's knockback and control.
Idk if you guys here have seen that list that was written by Japanese SSB pro's, but it says the "best" character in the game was Sheik, second and third best were like Fox and Peach (not respectively, i forget), and Ganondorf and Falco were up there, too. The 3 worst characters were Mewtwo, Bowser, and *gasp* Kirby! Haha, this really doesn't mean the characters are the BEST, but hey, the pro's made it, so it shows which characters have the most POTENTIAL for being dominating.
MEGANMAN, however...how can you even question that?
Nobody thinks it wouldn't be cool, it's just that Nintendo needs to have permission or the rights to a character in order to use it in a game, and Megaman belongs to Capcom.
Come to think of it, Sonic's spin move means they'd probably make him a clone character of Yoshi. Ahahahaha.
HAHA boy that would suck...it's sad tho, because he could be. Except for turning people into eggs, lol. But instead of egg throw, it could be RING TOSS! And instead of egg rollout like you said it could be spin move! And you could even have a BOING-HA down+B move like yoshi's, except have sonic say something cool and stab people with his spikes on the way down. haha!
I dont know about Kjarom and his sources here, but I'm sure I heard Mewtwo was the hardest to get used to but one of the best fighters in the game. I can do the 100 man melee with him, blindfolded if need be. He just takes a lot of time and skill to get used to.
Sonic will never be in Smash Bros. You can spout on about Sega working with Nintendo all you want but he won't be in Smash Bros Melee. it could be nice but it would feel too detached from the rest of the game. Seriously, imagine playing a 2D sonic game, the physics are so different from Smash Bros. Maybe its just me but I cant imagine him sitting comfortably in the next Smash Bros. Same for Megaman. Especially when he's pretty similar to Samus.
Realistically I can imagine at least 2 Advance Wars CO's, green/red Koopa troopers, Giga Bowser (opening up the possibility for 'extreme power' characters, Ganon could be in there too), Toad... meh s'all I can think of right now.
My sources are EXTREMELY reliable, right off the bat I'm going to assume that you've never heard of "tiers". Mewtwo has one of the lowest tiers. Some characters are more balanced than others, naturally...it is impossible for that not to happen. But Mewtwo has slow moves and his roll is crap. The only 3 things good about him are his aerial forward+a, shadow ball, and his wavedash. He is overall a lower tier character. I know a ridiculous amount of SSBM, so don't even try to sound like you know more than I do in that category.
About Sonic though, it wouldn't feel THAT different. I mean, all of the characters in their respective games prior to SSB had a different "feel", didn't they? Nintendo just blends the "feels" into a giant mixing pot of "feels".
Oh, and besides Megman's Blaster, he really isn't similar to samus
It'd be cool to have extreme powers. But they should be limited like one 5 stock or somethin. Good call on the characters, tho.

All I can say is yoshi should be as good in the revelution as he was in the N64. I cried for nights on end when yoshi was downgraded in melee. Poor Yoshi, learn to become better please.

I Like being link and taking on 3 level 9's in a team battle where I'm one color and they are all red or something. That game gets boring really fast though, beats the hell out of soul caliber. I hope I'm not the only one that hates that game.
I Like Mortal Kombat: DA the Most. Smash Bros. is fine and everything, but nintendo can't rip mario's head off by yoshi and get away with it.
thinking is like pong, it's easy, but you miss sometimes.
Yeah, Yoshi was pretty good in the N64 version. You just couldn't kill him (or knock him back, for that matter), especially when he was in the middle of his second jump. His egg throw in Mele is pretty good though, but you're right, they did unfortunately downgrade him.

His egg throw in the N64 version was a lot more controlled, so it could be used as a sheild, which means if yoshi got ht, the other character couldn't combo. Also, the meteor smash takes forever in melee.

I dont like Soul Calibre either. it feels too clunky its not graceful like Smash Bros. or as fun.
As for Samus and Megaman, in smash bros they would be near identical, both have the arm cannon thing, both have the charge ups. thats B and B-left/right sorted right there. Suitless Samus would be a better character. without that damn annoying laser grapple hook thing!
Samus could be better. should be a way to turn into the ball, and she should have the same jumping style from the old 2D metroids. stand still+jump=jump. move+jump=spin jump. The spin jump should replace the Up+B attack. i reckon!
Well it wouldn't feel too natural, though...I think Samus is a very good character in Melee, and not too many things have to change. I absolutely HATE it when people complain about her roll, though...
[quote]Sonic will never be in Smash Bros. You can spout on about Sega working with Nintendo all you want but he won't be in Smash Bros Melee.[unquote]
Yeah you're right,Sonic will never be in SSB. Melee. BUt there's a teensy chance he'll get into the rev version. Knuckles would be a cool addition too.
Characters I would like to see in the next SSB:
-Zero from the Megaman Zero games. He would rock!
-Captain Olimar. Throwing Pikmins and stuff. >D
-Dark Samus or S-AX. Preferrably S-AX 'cause she was a whole damn lot scarier than Dark Samus.
-Viewtiul Joe would be a so perfect addition !
-Professor E. Gadd!
-Cutman!
-Jill Valentine. Will never happen, but it would still be cool!
Other than new characters I would like to see way bigger arenas, 8 simultaneus players and support for online battles. The core game mechanics wouldn't be needed to fiddle with except from minor tweaking and fixing of bugs.
And Samus is my fav in melee. The charge "beam" and the missiles are a perfect combo. First charge the beam to max. Fire a missile at the opponent and imedietly fire the beam after the missile. The opponent will block the missile but get hit by the beam. In most cases that is. More experienced players will se through that tactic if used a lot.
Dude, the S-AX? As far as you'd be able to tell, that's just NORMAL SAMUS. Dark Samus would be kind of midway between Mewtwo and Samus, which would be kinda neat I suppose.
Ok, you got a good point there Radix.
Appearance would be the mayor factor in these sort of games when it comes down to characters. Dark Samus (DS) wouldn't actually be such a bad choice for an extra Metroid character in SSB when I think about it. DS moves differently and her beams are a bit different.
But it would be kinda cool if the monster-ish version (not the Omega-version) of the S-AX were used as a boss. Like Giga Bowser, which btw looked freaky as hell.
You know what would be cool? Metroids. Kind of like how Zelda changes form, and the alien lifecycle in AvP2, they could mature into higher forms as they fight. It wouldn't even matter if the first couple could fly, because they'd still go flying when you hit them.
Space Pirates would be neat, too. The black SWAT guys show off how effective fighters they can be. But I'd like them to be Zebesian Pirates. I don't like the Prime designs.
QUOTE: "Other than new characters I would like to see way bigger arenas, 8 simultaneus players and support for online battles."
WAY bigger arenas? Idk, I don't think the levels should get much bigger than the Hyrule Temple, because when you have 4 players going at it, people are flying all over the screen, and it's nearly impossible to see exactly what your character is doing.
They would need more classic levels, though. I'm really surprised they didn't put the first Hyrule (from SSB) in Melee! That level was amazing, and the tornado was so cool (as annoying as it was). That was my favorite level, by far, of either SSB or SSBM.
But the next game should include a couple Sonic levels (just like Emerald Hill and that Sky level in sonic 3), regardless of his appearance in the game! It'd be so cool...actually now that I said that out loud, it sounds more unrealistic, doesn't it, haha. But I trust Nintendo will do an amazing job with the levels, as they always have. They have a perfect balance of levels as it is...if you want to screw around and have fun 'n stuff, you can play in Brinstar Depths or that F-Zero level; or if you want to prove you're better than your friend in a mono-y-mono battle, you can play on final destination or battle field. Nintendo will def. dish out some amazing new levels for the next SSB game...
...a question, though. Has everyone seen the Revolution controller? It seems to have very few buttons on it, because it is mostly used as a motion sensor "remote"...I wonder if the gamecube controller could be used to play the next-generation SSB game. But who knows.
I forgot who said it, but it would be amazing if they had a Metroid item! For example, if you picked it up and threw it at someone, it would stick to 'em and make their percentage go up (kind of like the Lip's Stick I suppose, but you could only throw it)! How cool would that be?
Aye, Nintendo confirmed a few of the early releases for the Rev will use the Shell controller. My guess is Smash Bros is one of them. so long as some of the Revs features are used, maybe for a more precise weapon throw?
Ridley would make an excellent boss. I'm hoping they have more bosses, whilst Giga Bowser and the Master hand were good additions they should probably have mini-bosses every so often. hmm.
That's a good idea for Ridley to be a boss! They should also have Andross (not a bad idea), King K. Rool, and maybe a level where you have to fight each of the 7 Koopa Kids! They should also have character-specific minigames, that'd be fun, too.
But there WAS an Earthbound 2, "Mother ship", but it was released only in japan. I couldn't beat the first one, tho...the last boss was ridiculously hard...

How sweet would Kid Icarus be in SSB3? He could have like 3 diff. kinds of bows (B, over+b, over+smash+b) and one of 'em should be a shield breaker (like mr. saturn)
Kid Icarus was a very hard game, especially that third stage...OOH that was killer. But if he were in SSB3 he seriously could be a mixture of Link and Mario. It'd be great.

Mother 1 - Earthbound (or Earthbound Zero, whichever yous prefers) for the NES. Starts with a lamp attacking you.
Mother 2 - Earthbound for the SNES. The most popular one.
Mother 3 - Earthbound 64 for the Nintendo 64 - Cancelled
Mother 1 & 2 compilation for Gameboy Advance - Japan only
Mother 3 (again) - for the Gameboy Advance - Being worked on, no english version announced yet.

Yeah it's easy to talk smack about SSBM isn't it...adult link, eh? Do you even know about bomb teching or link's hookshot-boomerange-super jump glitch? hm?
Marth is the best. He is fast, he have a VERY good range and when you hit with a tipper it hurts.
The only one I sometimes lose against is my friend who also uses Marth.
(You can also use counter to block almost all attacks)

There are also 50 bazillion people who say that their character, Dr. Mario/Mario/Luigi/Peach/Yoshi/Falco/Fox/Link/Young Link/Ness/Donkey Kong/
Mr. Game and Watch/Jigglypuff/Pichu/Pikachu/Mewtwo/Samus/Gannondorf/
Captain Falcon/Kirby/Bowser/Ice Climbers/Roy/Marth, is the best character.
My favorite in melee is Jigglypuff.
"Isn't it always amazing how we characterize a person's intelligence by how closely their thinking matches ours?"
~Belgarath
Mine is definitely Falco; he's unstoppable against computers (his aerial Down+A is amazing), and his short hop laser (short jump+b+fastfall) is both annoying and devastating against humans. Haha, it makes them get really mad and lose their cool, and when people lose their cool, they play bad...
Yeah, Marth and Jiggs are both really good. Haha Peblo, I hope you're good at Rest w/ Jiggs! That move can KO anyone if theyre higher than about 40!
There really is not BEST player...Samus is the best recoverer in the game, Fox is the fastest hitter in the game, Ganondorf is prolly the most powerful (tied w/ Bowser), Falco is the highest jumper, and Mario is the most balanced. I play w/ mario as my secondary character, because he reflects the skill of the player, so it's a good way to show off lol.
Hmm, a good player is unstoppable agains a computer with ALL characers, the computer is pretty easy.
I don´t agree with all of it and the ranking varies different years but last years ratinglist was following:
Top Tier
1.Shiek 2.Fox 3.Marth
Upper Tier
4.Falco 5.Peach 6.Captain Falcon
7.Samus 8.Jigglypuff
High Tier
9.Ganondorf 10.Mario 11.Dr. Mario 12.Luigi
Middle Tier
13.Link 14.Pikachu 15.Ice Climbers
16.Roy 17.Zelda 18.Young Link 19.Yoshi
Lower Tier
20.Ness 21.Donkey Kong 22.Kirby
23.Geedubya (Mr. Game and watch) 24.Mewtwo
Bottom Tier
25.Bowser 26.Pichu
wow, Pichu in the bottom tier. I think he's pretty good. brilliant fast character, probably with the best recovery IMO. the height you get back from his/her UP+B attack is amazing. I dont agree with Samus being the best for recovery, I'd say Mewtwo is the best along side Pichu or Pikachu.
Actually dude, that's REALLY accurate for the most part, except for Link. Link should be switched with Ganondorf. And Mr. Game and Watch should be lower than Mewtwo, in my opinion.
Jimmi, jimmi...don't you know the trick to extend Samus' grappling beam? Once you do that, she can recover from virtually anywhere on Final Destination. I hate when people do that stupid bomb jump, it looks cool, but it really doesn't help that much. But yea, Pichu probably would be higher if it didnt hurt itself. I think that sole reason alone put it in the bottom tier.

Yeah, I'm good with rest, but I don't use it as often as I should. >+B and airial A+> and A+> are the moves I use most often.
"Isn't it always amazing how we characterize a person's intelligence by how closely their thinking matches ours?"
~Belgarath
I actually use the bomb jump a lot. It's useful when recovering from long distance and height, and for the ones still on ground to go "FFS just drop down already!!" It's a clearly underestimated move (both offensive and defensive). I try to refrain from using glitch moves though. Don't really care if other people use them against me, but I don't use them much.
Yeah, I don't use glitch moves in serious matches--well, I think we can call Samus' extended grappling beam more of a cheating move, haha. But idk, that bomb jump thing was just a preference of mine.
I also think that Sheik is NOT the best person in the game, haha fox is definitely better. Except for accelerating, fox is faster than sheik, and his DOWN+B is nothin to mess with, especially if u can chain it a lot. Well, falco's is easier to chain, but w/e.
OMG...do u know who they should have in the next game? STAR WOLF! THAT WOULD BE AMAZING!!!
Are you sure that you even have played Super smash bros?
Samus have been in both SSB and SSBM and it is hard to miss if you have played them more than five minutes.
