Just in case someone didn't notice - my Drunkard Ogre (whose name is Pete, actually) is sucking on a bottle of "Game Factory Special Stout" - so my avatar IS klik-related. Also - it was drawn in TGF and than exported to gif with Jasc Animation Shop 3.
I think we should have a limit on the compo avatar filesizes. 50kb should be a reasonable maximum. Keeping a low filesize is an important thing when desining an avatar - I can't see why Klik compo avatars should be an exception.
And here's a word for you: optimization. Phrat, I was able to cut your avatar's filesize to 88,3kb without any serious loss of quality. Just by resizing it to 60x56px (that's the size DC will display it anyway - so why keep a larger image?) I got rid of nearly 100kb. Reducing the colour count of the palette and throwing away every second frame worked fine also. In effect, you get a (almost) dial-up friendly avatar that looks almost as good as your originall one.
I would say all submissions should be new and original, pharts unbelievable awesome rotating 3d one is pretty old, and if HB kid wins Nintendo should get those 2 stars.
I treat DeviantArt as an universal showcase. And besides - it's in the scraps section, noone looks into that shit unless you tell them to. So why the hell not
