OMG! I GOT IT A WEEK AGOOO!
It's that thing Microsoft has been hyping up for the past few years. And you know what?
...
It sucks. It sucks with a fucking vengeance. It's like they intentionally made it slow and awful. First off, you need a DVD player to install it. You know why they did this? They did this because they're assholes, and they want you to spend lots of money.
So I bought a DVD player. It took a couple hours to install, and I was all happy. Then I started it up.
First, the design is completely (and shamelessly) ripped from the Linux system. Even the Internet explorer looks like Linux. Second, it's so fucking slow, even though most of the programs aren't (like the main Windows Menu pops up in a jiffy, but when you right click on the desktop you have to move the mouse around to see the options).
Third- Anything not by Microsoft comes up with some sort of error. Audacity, my favourite sound-program, constantly locks up. Same with Real Player...but if I close out the error message, it runs normally. They want you to install Windows Media player, but I refuse because it sucks ass.
When there's an error (which happens quite often), it comes up with a message 'Windows is checking the problem'; I thought 'Oooo! Neat'! But you know what? IT TAKES FIVE FUCKING HOURS TO CHECK WHY SOMETHING WON'T WORK. It locks up!
Internet takes forever to load on High-Speed.
I could go on, but it's a waste of time. Save your money, don't buy Vista.
Fine Garbage since 2003.

Who the hell was going to buy it eh? I'm too lazy to change OS anyway. Win2k is the best MS has been able to come up with so far, and I probably won't change until either the next thing after Vista is released or there's some pressing need.
Your computer must suck... Windows Vista runs beautifully for me. In addition, they don't require a DVD drive as a fraud as you so put it... DVD players are OLD news, so anyone who doesn't even have one by now, is already one-step to being very far behind. Especially if you play games, which is one of the things Windows Vista was optimized to do (and does VERY well, tested it myself). In addition to that, Windows Media Player, Internet Explorer 7, and Windows Defender are all automatically installed with Windows Vista, so any confirmation as to it asking you to install it, doesn't make sense.
Another thing that makes very little sense is the question... why the hell would someone say Windows Media Player 10 sucks, let alone 11. In my eyes, that is nothing but trying to indirectly say you hate Microsoft, and are boycotting programs they make in process. In short, the ONLY mistake Windows Media player 10 or above makes, is the fact that it was made by Microsoft. Performance sucks? If it sucks so much, then why do I get 0-1% of my processes used up when I'm using it? Quality sucks? Oh, why... because it doesn't fade in/out when you stop/start music? Bullshit, Windows Media Player sounds just as good as any other media player would. The fact that other media players pack up with pointless EAX effects to make it sound better is nothing but a waste, and no reason why it should be considered better. Few Codecs? Bull... it just doesn't come installed with a shit load of codecs that you don’t need, on install. It's called GOOGLE and download!
Internet Explorer 7 is much better then Internet Explorer 6, however I still prefer FireFox over them both. In the end however, the internet is still lightning fast on Vista, as it is on WindowsXP, so that little "fact" is but a problem with your computer.
In the end, the most people can do is save their time by ignoring all these flame posts by anti-Microsoft people. Vista will run perfectly on any half-decent computer, but the key words here are HALF-DECENT. Microsoft isn't going to be idiots about the Vista and try to make sure it works on piece of SHIT computers owned by people who lazy to upgrade! Get a new computer, especially Vista compatible, and you will not be disappointed. My computer runs Vista great, and with that said, with the fact that my PC isn't even top of the line; I don't see any reason for anyone to complain.
The man has a point. They probably are using some things from Linux, Linux is pretty. Hmm, I'm not going to play every FPS now because they used things from Doom. Man I'm just going to play Doom now, screw Call of Duty 2 and Battlefield 2. Nope, I'll pull out my SNES and Doom it up all night.
thinking is like pong, it's easy, but you miss sometimes.
I have got to agree with Brandon on this one. The reason Vista runs crap on your PC must be because either your PC is crap/old, or because something on your computer is faulty (or there are other things taking tons of memory). The fact is you should check the required specifications before purchasing any software - including an OS.
I have a PC which I bought a year ago, on which I installed the Vista BETA - runs perfectly, and I receive no errors at all when running programs such as Audacity and even MMF2. The only problems I have are some display issues and just minor bugs (but it is a BETA).
And so what if it looks like linux? (although it doesn't really remind me of linux anyway)
I think the reason that Microsoft have done what they have done with Vista is because computers are moving on - most computers come with DVD players now, and also have good enough graphics cards to run vista. So yeh it's pretty much your own fault for buying it - it's not like Microsoft forced you into buying it afterall
I suggest if anyone else wants Vista, then they should run the program from www.microsoft.com which will specifically tell you how well your computer will run vista.
My computer is far from faulty/crap/old. It's brand fucking new.
I'm going to stick with XP. It was perfect as it was.
Do I hate Microsoft? Yes.
*high pitched squeely-mock* "Oooooh! WHY DID U BY IT THEN?!" To try it out. It's trash. It's not much of an upgrade. They changed the outlook; the interface has changed a bit to help stupid people figure out how to use the most basic functions (like changing the desktop background).
Fine Garbage since 2003.

And Brandon- do you really think I waste all of my money upgrading everytime some new piece of shit comes out? You must have a lot of money; I use my money on important things. It's great to know that people live off their computers; man, I've lost all faith in humanity.
For the record: my computer is only a year old.

What spec is your computer? It's obvious that it's a problem with your computer - as it works fine on my old-ish computer, and seems to work fine on Brandon's too.
Probably just your graphics card that is the problem.

Um, shouldn't good OSes be able to run fast on any computer from 2000> anyway?
You do honestly reliese that Windows Vista has been in a free Beta though, right Lazarus? Your complaining that you spent allot of money on Vista, and here you didn't actually go and BUY a DVD drive, you recyled one (which I'm all for, don't get me wrong) and you downloaded a free copy of Vista... so in the end. You didn't even gamble anything but your time, you shouldn't be this pissed! Especially knowing that its only a beta!
No, I had to buy a new DVD player, hence I spent lots o' money. Which is one of the many reasons I'm pissed.
It's a beta, yes; I took that into consideration. I'm ticked off about the hype. It's really no better than XP or 2000. They just re-did the interface.
