I think I can completely relate to you Jimmi. Sonic was just one of those games that should have stayed a 2D platformer. Both 2D & 3D still have plenty of improving to do, but because now a days, people are so hard pressed on fantastic graphics, 2D games sort of slip through the cracks.
As much as I might have liked Sonic Adventure 2, nothing, and I can say this with complete honesty, nothing beats Sonic 3 & Knuckles in my eyes.
But Sonic Advance was 2D again, and somehow it didn't work. For me, anyway.
I just downloaded the open source 3D engine, and I was pretty amazed that anything like that could be done in MMF. Then I looked at the events, and I'm terrified.
Sonic rush keeps making me run back and forth and making me stop and it bugs me > (mind, this is probably cos Im crap at it ) I like it when I just run as fast as possible and fly through the level.
I didn't like Sonic Advance much because it was just that, running to the right with the periodic jump here and there. Sonic 3 showed atleast some sort of skill needed to be involved.
You mean Super Sonic? He's been around since Sonic 2, Hyper Sonic came up at Sonic 3, because of the second batch of emeralds, super emeralds. Just about everything Sonic, fits together like a large puzzle, it just happens to be that almost all the Sonic games lately are Sega trying to 'get it right' with Sonic, and they keep having to revert back to his original roots. Every since Knuckles Chaotix, they've just been pulling characters out of their asses, only good new characer we had since Knuckles, was Shadow. That's pretty much it.
By a route obscure and lonely,
Haunted by ill angels only,
Where an Eidolon, named night,
On a black throne reigns upright,
I have reached these lands but newly
From an ultimate dim Thule
From a wild clime that lieth, sublime,
Out of space
Out of time.
