DL'ed his open source 3D engine and checked it out. Works really well
Only problem is the unability to rotate the cameras Y axis, other than that it's really cool.
Looks interesting, just so happens I've been working on something Sonic wise as well, I don't know if I'm going to make a full game out of it, but it seems to be turning out nicely.
Funnily enough i was considering making a complete green hill zone remake. However i may just do my own thing and make a sonic fan game like the classics.

Wait, all made in MMF2? Superb!
I know of a different 3D Sonic being made from the Doom (2?) source. I'll try to locate it.
Fools! It's not MMF2. It's MMF1 with the klikOpenGL extension.
MMF2 doesn't even have 3D support... Yet.
Still, pretty impressive. I've never been able to do anything decent with the openGL extension, but Reno has been playing around with it, he's making something pretty good with it too.
3D
I still stand my belief that everything Sonic (official or fan) doesn't exist since after the Mega Drive games. though Sonic Rush is supposed to be good. spud.
I think I can completely relate to you Jimmi. Sonic was just one of those games that should have stayed a 2D platformer. Both 2D & 3D still have plenty of improving to do, but because now a days, people are so hard pressed on fantastic graphics, 2D games sort of slip through the cracks.
As much as I might have liked Sonic Adventure 2, nothing, and I can say this with complete honesty, nothing beats Sonic 3 & Knuckles in my eyes.
But Sonic Advance was 2D again, and somehow it didn't work. For me, anyway.
I just downloaded the open source 3D engine, and I was pretty amazed that anything like that could be done in MMF. Then I looked at the events, and I'm terrified.
Sonic rush keeps making me run back and forth and making me stop and it bugs me > (mind, this is probably cos Im crap at it ) I like it when I just run as fast as possible and fly through the level.
I didn't like Sonic Advance much because it was just that, running to the right with the periodic jump here and there. Sonic 3 showed atleast some sort of skill needed to be involved.
You mean Super Sonic? He's been around since Sonic 2, Hyper Sonic came up at Sonic 3, because of the second batch of emeralds, super emeralds. Just about everything Sonic, fits together like a large puzzle, it just happens to be that almost all the Sonic games lately are Sega trying to 'get it right' with Sonic, and they keep having to revert back to his original roots. Every since Knuckles Chaotix, they've just been pulling characters out of their asses, only good new characer we had since Knuckles, was Shadow. That's pretty much it.
By a route obscure and lonely,
Haunted by ill angels only,
Where an Eidolon, named night,
On a black throne reigns upright,
I have reached these lands but newly
From an ultimate dim Thule
From a wild clime that lieth, sublime,
Out of space
Out of time.
"new characer we had since Knuckles, was Shadow. That's pretty much it."
Shadow is not exactly the best character. What the heck happened to the bright ol days of Sonic 1. Now it's all gritty urban cities and guns.
Also sonic team have introduced new characters from sonic 2, well technically from sonic 1 because they indroduced sonic and robotnik then
sonic 2: tails
sonic 3: knuckles
sonic cd: amy
Knuckles chaotix: loads of dudes (that are all quite cool looking)
triple trouble: nack the weasel (or fang)
sonic advance 2: cream
sonic adventure: big and the robot
sonic adventure 2: shadow rouge
sonic rush: blaze
I have a new favourite level, Egyptian level in sonic rush, it throws me all over the place and it allows me to actually go far smoothly without stopping too much.. and the music is funky
Best sonic games were definately Sonic 1, sonic 2, sonic 3 and sonic and knuckles.
Apart from those I can't say there have been any great sonic games. I use to think Sonic Adventure for dreamcast was cool, but thinking about it now - it was pretty cruddy.
Although imo Sonic 1 was the best - no storyline, no other characters intefering - just you blasting through the levels and kicking robotnik's ass
