I don't intend to leave but I tend to go through times where I'm too busy with school to stay around that much. But of course I doubt I'll be here when I'm much older...
I've been around since the TK times and saw the DC's rise to glory! Back then I used ONI as my username though.. Anyway, no, I won't leave. I'll be away at times, but I won't leave NEVER!
Committing to stay or leave isn't really possible in my opinion, so I'm here when I'm here and not when I'm not. Even though I'm not here anywhere near as often as I was 3 or 4 years ago, I do still visit, and would never say I'm leaving, unless I was off to some computerless cave somewhere in Barnsley.
MMF is one of those things you can't just give up on. I sometimes go a very long time without even opening up MMF2 but in the end I always come back. It's just nice to take a break every so often.

I won't be leaving anytime soon, i like it here too much.
The only way i'd leave is if i become so preoccupied with something... which will most likely never happen because i'm not what you call a workaholic.
Eh, I've seen a lot of people who never planned to leave but left (like Phizzy) and a lot of people who planned to leave but never left (like Rikus ). Depends on your motives for kliking, I guess

I probably won't leave until I get a job designing and/or programming professional video games. Which is after college. I may show up less though, because likely the upcoming college schedule will kill my free time. Or at least, enough of it to keep me from visiting as often.
But I see no real point in saying whether or not you plan on leaving. I don't think anyone does until about a day before they do.

That's also part of the reason I made this topic, to see if there are still people planning to go away in the near future (and then maybe return).
I have been around for ages (my old names include kingcheeze, daymiant and kcheeze) and have no plans on leaving any time soon. This is the best Click site period (the offical clickteam forums are a close second for me). I even like the lame flame wars for a laugh now and then. So yeah, I'm not going anywhere.
I leave when this place sucks and come back when it stops sucking again. That means I have to check the site for suckness once in a while so I really never leave.
I've gonna leave eventually. It's the truth, I'm not gonna hide it. I'll probably be here for another 2 or 3 more years then leave. It's just not where my life is. I'll go through a lot of phases in life, and this is one of them. It kinda makes me sad, put I have to admit it. I'll look back 2 to 3 years from now and go "Good times" when I think of Clicking of TDC. Don't worry, I won't forget about it. I'm just gonna move on one of these days, I know it, it's just part of life...
Even one will get into games as a professional, there is no reason to leave - maybe one will be here more seldom, but there is no reason to leave for good.
As long you are clicking away, there is no reason to leave.
Take a break, take a sabbath year, but never leave, as long as clicking - is your cup of tea.

Besides the tourey, I hold no commitments to this site. Most of my close friends aren't here anymore, and probably won't be back. Other than that, yeah, go DC!

I'm back! Wow, it's like i never left!! Hamilton reigns supreme, now let's hope he and McLaren don't screw it up in the last 5 races (much like last year)
Wiiman. "I'll probably stay here two or three more years and then leave." That's not a long time at all. (sarcasm alert) (Well, I know some people stay here for years upon years, but it's still long when you think about it.) I have a feeling it won't even be that long. For alot of us.

I left 2 years ago when I was told not to use naughty words because its a familly site, now I am back and even admins are cussing like horses so I guess I wont leave now.

Ricky, posts are deleted for a reason. I don't know why nobody will claim deleting that one thread awhile ago but the way to prevent your posts from being deleted is to post things that won't be deleted.
yes but ive seen quite a few ricky posts that did NOT warrant a delete. and that thread that got deleted didnt really warrant a delete either. someone is/was picking on him and its not ok.
i aint lookin lol. this stuff happened before new admins. also, back on topic, if things dont shape up around here ill probably drift off again. mostlikely just stay in gwerdy/ctforums and on gamebuilder. i dont think any amount of new admins or new features to tdc can fix its problems. tdc doesnt wield its ban hammer properly, or enforce the rules enough. sites this old need to be reborn, not get plastic surgery.

TDC is my homepage. I leave it open all day, every day that I use the internet. I've been doing this since 2002 and I don't think I'll leave anytime soon.
Other sites will come and go but TDC is here to stay Every couple of years some people get bored/annoyed with the rules that are set into place and try to bend them or break them to see what will happen. Then cry when they get a warning and rally other people to "fight the big bad tdc and come join my group, website, whatever" Some people follow. But we welcome everyone back when they decide to return
But i do not think these people understand that all these annoying rules and removal of certain posts are put into place for survival of the site itself, to get this huge machine called tdc truckin this needs to be done. So we wont explode in a big flame war or phizzel out into nothingness. Sometimes posts get deleted by mistake into the mix but stirring the pot and fight against the evil power that is tdc, is just plain childish. If we did not have this into place this site would not be here today, it would have went the way of, total klik, klik-me, the cafe, silkys, the mini cafe, and so on and so on. (they either phizled out or just exploded into a flame war (silkys)
You can hate tdc all you want and we know its annoying to have your posts removed and frustrating and really easy to rebel but on the flip side of the coin, you have to admire that whatever mud we went in we always came out and are still here, bringing you daily updates from the community and will continue to do so.

Let's face it, some things have become a built in routine, so much so that as I might try to get away from the site, I can't really stay away. Every once and a while something really interesting will happen, and I'll feel too out of the loop if I miss it.
i dont think its me being bitter. i think its my perspective changing. the fun things just arent fun enough to detract from the annoyances. maybe the arcade can change that. but im a skeptic and a cynic.
@brandon. fav toolbar much? right click open all in tabs.
Well I don't always visit the same websites in a row. I usually come to the computer not knowing what I want to go to, and as I enter websites, I think of the next one I want to go to. Then after they're all entered, I go by each tab and I log into each profile. Then I sweep back over each tab and go to the specific pages I'm looking for updates on. Then I go by into each tab and make my appropriate responses, close FireFox, and I'm done.
I don't know why I'm still here... Super-fun klik games aren't released on a weekly (or even monthly) basis anymore and I don't even use MMF anymore. I guess I've got nowhere else to go.
Discarded pizza boxes are an indispensable source of cheese.
I really like Rikus as a person, but what he never understood is that people don't hate TDC, they hate the way it's handled sometimes. Too many posts get deleted that have nothing to do with flamewars. They get deleted without stating a reason and people are not supposed to ask for a reason. Posts and people are treated unequal. People get warnings or get banned for stuff others got away with many times (why did I never get a warning?). When asking for clearance we just get the same old "we need to do this to keep the site running". It is true, it works. When Stalin ruled over the USSR no trains were running late and nobody was moaning. But at one point it will piss people off too much. Even feedback on how admins are running the site is dealt with "no, not true", "no, we know how to choose admins", "no, it's worse at other places". You can say TDC always survived and the other sides didn't, but in most cases this was caused by the existence of TDC, which is like the big, smelly capitol of click where people keep going because time stands still there. The only thing that keeps TDC going is the massive amount of members it has and the cheer factor. The design is outdated, the coding is messy, chances for coverage very uneven. I've seen a lot more flamewars and retarded crap here than on any other click site, and those other sites where always there for people who where sick of the TDC scene, like little relaxing towns.
The first community site I was an admin of, Iklik-it.com, was totally democratic, had friendly mods/admins that listened to the members and we never had flamewars. If the whacked-out owner of the space it was hosted on wouldn't have sold it, it would still be here today. The second site I was an Admin of was Klik Academy, which lasted for a couple of years. Again democratic and friendly, this time killed by flamewars that migrated from TDC to KA, then stuck in recode. Total Klik was another place to go and always died of hacking from outside, not flamewars or dying out on the inside. There will always be an alternative where people can go who get sick of how things are handled here on TDC. Not being allowed to criticise WILL piss people off. It's not childish rebelling, it is a reflection of childish and stubborn handling of a site.
Right now we are working hard on making Gamebuilder a real professional, pretty and easy to use community site which will be totally democratic, with equal chances for everybody who wants to get somewhere with this hobby. I hope we can make it a nice, lasting alternative to this place. Not because I hate TDC, but because TDC needs an alternative to have a reason to be good.
Then I admire your efforts to step forward and attempt to make it a decent site Hayo. I've seen the exact same censorship behaviour there as what we get here.
Didn't Adam engage in a vendetta against Robert Rule (Rouel?) when he became admin because nobody here knew him, you can only imagine my LOLage when I went to Gamebuilder earlier to see a new admin who wasn't even signed up to the site. Which is even funnier considering the size of the site. They mustn't need more than 2 admins surely?
Also the journalistic quality of the news posts is the worst of any Klik site. Starting a post with "My friends game..." screams blog, not respectable community site.
Okay except Klik-Me's early days. Making negative comments about the users preferred games isn't really a good thing to include in news posts either.
Person A: Blah blah blah blah blah
Person B: No u, blah blah blah blah blah
It goes back and forth and I don't have the time to read it these days. I just keep chugging along programming, and answering people's coding questions. Until then, let me contribute my blah blah blah blah blah
I'd like to stay away from personal vendettas, as all the people I think are cool seem to hate each other, but yes, GB needs a lot of work, and will get a lot of work. Not to replace TDC, but to offer a worthy alternative.
The fact is and this will happen with gb to admit it or not, -and thumbs up for your effords btw we need more click sites around here-
Once the userbase grows so we will the pain of dealing with so many different people, opinions and whatnot, it is hard keeping everything in check, flamewars will happen -even if you say they will not- Posts will be deleted -even if you say no they will not- it is really easy to fight the evil tdc when you are just starting up. The real trick comes keeping the site going once the level of users increases. Things will hapen hayo, You will not see this in weeks, months but in years.
So I know it is easy to freak out at us and make promises of things to be better.
Yo say: The only thing that keeps TDC going is the massive amount of members it has and the cheer factor.
We say the thing that keeps tdc going is the daily updates and the innovative new features that we will bring to the site (others may clone them but we will bring them to the table) For now and for always

Let's not turn this into a fight. Lol, more people should visit GameBuilder, it has more admins than active users at any hour Rick(oth)y's right, the users will ultimately win from any competition. The community's badly needs some competition. It's just too stagnant as it is.
Hayo, democracy only works with a certain level of intellect. If you can have a group where 100% of users are mature and responsible, democracy is certainly the best way. TDC can be a bit totalitarian, but it works. I've seen admins elected democratically and elected simply by the choice of one person and IMHO, it actually works much better when Rikus or Mike picks them alone. If you looked at some of the previous GOTWs, you'd also see how messed up democracy can get.
You can't change TDC, but you can certainly make an alternative to it. And I'd welcome that.
Disclaimer: Any sarcasm in my posts will not be mentioned as that would ruin the purpose. It is assumed that the reader is intelligent enough to tell the difference between what is sarcasm and what is not.
The thing I get really sick of is the stuck up attitude displayed here. You just seem to run this site to get a lot of visitors, use anything that will bring in more visitors. I am really glad I didn't do that pointless BnH video you asked me to make for the KlikCast. I would feel abused now.
TDC brings the new things to the table? Like the Klik Museum maybe? Game of the month trophy? TDC invented all the features in the click community? TDC invented the clicks?
Flame wars will happen? Not at some of the places I've been an admin of, and I didn't have to delete a single post. Apart from that, I think you need a good flame war every now and then. Half the flame wars I see here are "WTF who deleted my post?!" and "what did you ban him for?" I know retarded people come to the site, I know they can be a problem. It is okay to warn them or delete them. But I see too many sane people have their posts deleted, which will piss people off, which causes a stir, which will bring more people to TDC because we all like trouble. I would act much nicer if I didn't get pissed off by fascist site handling. Adam would act nicer. Heck, Phizzy would still be around(as Phizzy, not one of his fake accounts).
And I am just starting up? I have been Click products since 1996 and have been involved in click community sites since 2000. I've visited this site since launch, I built 3 sites up with nice people over the years, saw then get torn down and then I just focussed on my own games. I know what I am doing. I don't hate TDC, I don't hate any member on this site, I am not freaking out or screaming, I started out giving feedback and pointed things out but found out you are so full of your website that you are immune to any form of criticism. You consider it an attack and all you do is "no TDC will never die WHOOO!"
With democracy I don't mean the political, modern-western idea of democracy. Just look up what democracy was when it was invented. It means the power should not be in the hands of a few people. They will do things on their own that don't make sense and they will piss off a bunch of people. You don't have to use the dumb 80% to have a democracy.
umm i was not talking about you Hayo I was talking about gb itself. This is nothing personal and I am not being the one upset here.
Actually I was just invited by ricky to join the chat and that is totally cool, however right before I did (i had to get my ct forum password for it to work) I saw a pm by Adam on the clickteam forums.
Short to say, after being called some chilish names and now that I have to remove the klik-cast logo he made from the tdc in its entire, i dont think I should enter the chat since the adams-fan club's mind is made up how tdc is just the dark side anyway. Only seeing one side of the coin is just that only seeing that one side.

I visit community sites were there aren't flamewars. But thats down to the members rather than the admins anyway. Admins can only react to them, not prevent them.
You know I do get the feeling sometimes that when someone makes an honest criticism of TDC the admins take it far too personally. But you know, it's supposed to be a community site and all It would be nice if we could do so without ending up frustrated and getting the feeling we've upset someone.
Also It doesn't help when members jump into the thread screaming 'DONT BOTHER TRYING BECAUSE IT WILL TURN INTO A FLAMEWAR. THE ADMINS' DECISION IS FINAL' because... you know thats stupid. It's another cause for frustration because it gets you nowhere.
I actually used to visit GB quite a bit around May 2007, even had a specially generated password for it and all (which I don't do for lesser sites). The main reason I stopped is after some GB admins decided to attack everything related to TDC, and then end it with a "please go to GameBuilder".
"TDC admins steal news from TIGSource"
"TDC admins are too oppressive"
"TDC bans people for no reason"
"TDC has too many worthless admins"
"TDC is not active enough"
"TDC doesn't ban Phizzy"
"TDC banned Phizzy for no reason"
"TDC doesn't punish jerks who pick on me, so I'm leaving"
"TDC bans people they don't like, but not others who have done less things"
"TDC competitions don't come with a prize. The one at GameBuilder does."
"TDC admins are lazy and don't post anything on the front page anymore"
"TDC admins post too many irrelevant news on the front page"
"The rating system doesn't work because someone voted 0 stars on my game"
"The admins recommend their favorite games but don't recommend my favorites"
The admins do get a little annoyed at all that whining and just tells everyone to shut up and leave at times. You'd have to understand why they don't even bother listening to complaints anymore.. there's always someone who complaints of something on the opposite side of the spectrum.
But if you really feel that something is being treated unfairly, bring it up. Just do it politely. If you're lazy and don't want to email an admin, use the Alert Admin button. Threads have been unlocked, members have been unbanned, and new rules have been made from the feedback. We will not listen to your opinions equally, but we will consider them.
It is a site. As they say, being here is a privilege, not a right. But your presence makes it a better place, so we're not going to shoo you away unless you're bothering everyone else. You're more than welcome to leave if you don't like it. And assuming everyone still likes you, you're more than welcome to return when you feel like it.

Ahh well, I never visited Gamebuilder then, and didn't visit TDC much in those days. We are working hard on becoming a more professional community site now. And watermarking our news.
That would be nice to see. TDC does need a competitor and I think GB is underusing its potential anyway, since it already has a better codebase than TDC. Just needs to start being active and moving actively, that's all.

Those things Muz mentioned are what I had in mind but did not list. I have faith that the two sites will get along and benefit from each other. I'm just getting tired of all the "TDC sucks, why don't you come to our lovely site" invites. Invites need to be made in good spirit. I have trouble going over there now because of the attitude some of its members have assumed.
