It's been out for a while now but having recently purchased a copy at a very reasonable £17.99, I can happily say it's the best game I've ever played so far Just wondering if anyone else plays this online? Ive been playing for the past few nights with Nick online and it's incredible gameplay, and usually quite hillarious (I have never laughed so much at a game). So yes, if anyone else plays LBP online, discuss!
Really nice well known coaster level we had fun on tonight:
For some reason, I had a feeling you'd consider this game to be your favorite, Adam.
Not that it's a bad thing though, it is a very fun game. I didn't have much time to dive into it because I just rented it so I could play it on my friends PS3 while I stay with him for a little bit. It's fun and I love the charm. I'm sure it would be a hell of a lot more fun though to play with some friends. Side my side especially. Some games I love playing online, but a game like this feels like the true experience of sitting side by side with friends, is priceless.
I honestly think it's worth buying a ps3 just for this game There are so many incredible user created levels, accessories to collect and the level editor is insanely powerful/fun
I have LBP online a few times and found it to be pretty good fun!! its good to stand next to someone and flail your arms about using the Right Analog Stick to smack them in the face!!!
I have it, but haven't played it for a while. It's definitely one of the best games - just I'm not very creative, so creating levels isn't my kind of thing. Though to be honest it's worth the price just to play levels other people have created.
Add my PSN, Flava18, and maybe we can play some time.
The clincher for me is the fact that it's a Sony exclusive and with the way money is now, theres no way I'm going to waste money on a PS3 or a PSP just to get one game. As far as the other exclusives, I really don't care much for them. I never got into Metal Gear and Devil May Cry satisfies what I'm missing with God of War, so I think I'm good.
I have the PSP one and it's okay. Nothing is really pushing me to completing it though. Same goes for the PS3 version too, won't sell it though 'cuz its signed .
Love the music though. Especially the Lisa Mitchell track on the PSP version.
You have one of the signed copies from when it first came out? And why if you dont care much for the original game, did you buy a sequel on a smaller platform that's clearly not going to be as impressive?
There are only 3 games I currently enjoy playing hand-held in, largely because of time restraints; Audiosurf Tilt, Checkers and Sudoku. All three of them were free in the ZuneHD marketplace too. Those are my favorite types of games.
Ive played this the least out of my collection of ps3 games but that is mainly because i can't be bothered to keep pulling my ethernet cable out of my pc to play ps3 online.
Ive not put any levels online yet but some of the levels i have played have been fantastic. Others have been bizarre.
I love Little Big Planet... What do you mean you JUST bought it Adam?? You got that game when it came out didn't you? You were like hell-bent on it and anxious to hell and back! maybe that was Loco-roco....I miss my PSP...
Anyways, I don't know my gamer tag but it's prolly liquixcat or Liquixcat you can add me if you want and I'll play LBP with you. Although all I ever really play now is Mortal Kombat Vs DC... Say what you will
P.S. Not to start a flame war or anything...I'd hate to mess up Adam's totally awesome post.... but...... 360 sucks I said it, I said it....WHAT!?
thinking is like pong, it's easy, but you miss sometimes.
360 does suck. It's ugly and has crappy games. Id say the same about PS3 if it wasnt for LBP and a couple of other games. Ill try and add you (providing that username works && LC)
I was playing Little Big Planet on my brother's PSP last night. It's okay, pretty similar but as I expected not as thrilling as the PS3 version.
I'd like the PS3 more if the multi console games were as good as their Xbox counterparts, or if PSN was as good as Live, or if the controller was as good as a 360 controller.
But I'd like the Xbox more if it had a built in wifi adapter and used real money for buying things.
You state your opinions as though they were facts, Adam. I'd chill out before this post is thrown off by another console war. I'll keep mine to myself right now, but if one starts, you can't say you didn't add any gasoline.

Actually you're the one stoking the fire right now. No need to post at all if you don't want a flame war.
On topic:
Another cool level I played with Nick tonight. Little things the creator added like huge dino tail disappearing behind a building made it kinda funky.

Lol, so I'm starting a flame war for telling you to stfu about the console wars? Nice.

If you don't want to discuss Little Big Planet, don't bother posting, please.
Regardless. For what little I did get to play Little Big Planet, I loved it. We will be getting a PS3 around income tax time so I look forward to picking it up very soon there after.
But then more then half of Adams arguments about how amazing the PS3 is, would be useless. I think to satisfy him, it should stay on the PS3. Politeness ftw.
It would have to be a bit cut down, but you could most definitely have a playable and fun version on the wii, no question. It wouldn't allow puzzles to be as big and physics to be as perfect, but it would be doable. Never going to happen though.
I think a PC would handle the game well. I mean hell, I know it's not as amazing as it was as hyped up to be, but Crysis was quite a system hog and it runs great on even my PC.

I don't know about that. It would be in an SD resolution and there wouldn't be as many shaders, but it would be possible. Brawl can support up to 8 player characters at once (Ice Climbers), up to 16 or so onscreen enemies and loads of items all with Havok physics. It's even fairly represented on the PSP (not sure if it unlocks the full 333mhz, but it either runs at that or 222mhz), just without a full multiplayer mode.
It's just MM are a second party dev to Sony and the project was funded and published by them so...
Don't you have to pay for the privilege of adding water to your custom levels?

Why would it run badly on a PC? You're forgetting that we have GPU's that are more powerful than the PS3s alone, being run with two of them at once. We also have PhysX cards and PhysX chips built standard on all the new nVidia chips. I think it would flourish on a PC. Consoles are weak compared to PC, they're just optimized for what they're designed to do. PC's do that and more.
I was referring to very large-scale puzzles. Boom Blox slows with a lot of objects. I had in mind the giant calculators you see made with LBP. Perhaps that's not so! I'd love to see it, but it won't happen.
The only reason stuff like that would be toned down would be because the power of the average gaming computer is underestimated. PS3 is no more powerful than a gaming system. Unless they were trying to expand their audience by supporting their idea of the "average computer", theres again, absolutely no reason why the game should be toned down at all.
The reason LBP won't be coming on PC or any other platforms is because Media Molecule is owned by Sony. The whole "only possible on PS3" thing is just bull poop - they make it sound like only the PS3 can handle it, but really it means that they just own the rights to LBP so no other console can have it.
If MM wasn't owned by Sony, I doubt they'd still release it on PC. Firstly the market it more limited (those with low-end machines might not be able to play the game). Secondly, you're not likely going to make as many sales as on a console due to the piracy issue (though some games do still sell well on PC, so who knows). Thirdly, I wouldn't like playing LBP with a keyboard and mouse - yes you can buy a joystick/controller for the PC, but I'd rather just buy the game for a console and leave my PC to keyboard/mouse games (that's just my opinion).
As for whether it would be possible on the Wii - I think only if Nintendo sorts out their network service. LBP relies very much on your PSN account, and storing levels and characters online. I'm sure Nintendo could do this to some extent, but really they'd have to introduce some sort of proper ID service other than this "friends code" thing. May also depend whether they have the servers to cope with such content - I'm sure they could afford it though. LBP also does a lot on one screen - it can have many objects both on-screen and off-screen, all of which have physics and other things applied to them (they're also of different sizes - some objects can be huge). So I'm fairly sure the game would have to be toned down for the Wii, but you'd still be able to get most of the functionality I think.

You can still play levels with water in them - I believe the DLC is for those who want to create levels with water in them.
Edit: Looking on the PS store, there actually doesn't seem to be anything for creating water levels. I guess it was just a free update then?
Edit 2: Yes it was a free update

As much as any one of your posts
Adam, take the same advice I gave you in private messaging. Stfu cause you're relying on fake facts you can't show for.
So you just update the game and you get the water? Sounds like a good deal. Better than paying for an expansion pack for RCT3 to get underground construction, and an expansion pack for Sims 3 to get basements. People should learn from these free updates that add something that should have been in the game from the beginning.
It's £4.79 for 5 Pirates of the Carribean themed levels, a cannibal costume and some stickers/objects to use in your levels. The levels are actually really fun to play - definitely worth the money in my opinion.

And the use of the water objects/tools making your own levels Which are damn cool.
I love the game, and love playing other peoples levels, but theres no way I'd invest a load of time designing my own level when I could be using that time to make levels in a proper freeware game.

You can download the RCT3 update for free and get underground construction AND waterfalls.
You just don't get all the new missions that come with the expansion pack.

Do you? Or does it show the button and then just not let you use them without the expansion. I don't recall any updates giving me that stuff.
LPB is class (I'm MBoothman by the way). Been making some of my own levels and stuff up - trying to make a level based in a spaceship akin to Red Dwarf, with puzzles in.

Is that the level we played together? Sorry we were so awful at it >_< but it was a lot of fun! I'm also looking forward to ModNation Racers.
Lol I cant even remember it was that long ago... To be honest I havent made any decent levels yet. I think the cool one we played was the jack and the bean stalk level and you and Mrs Nimmo couldnt climb the bean stalk very well, lol but then you had only just got the game
Havent been on LBP for a while, not that I got tired of it or bored, just havent had the time

The reviews haven't been terrible - just nowhere near LBP's standard. The review scores Modnation is getting varies quite a bit - some are giving it 9/10 while others around 7/10.
I was in the beta and the track, character and vehicle editors are pretty amazing - the thing that let it down for me was the gameplay (and online was quite laggy, though they've apparently fixed that).
