To encourage some new games and a creative spirit on TDC, I thought we could organise a Clicker Matchmaking Service. The idea is simple: You write down your name and your strengths and we match you up with other like-minded clickers. This will create some new teams of clickers capable of pushing out some quality games!
To Participate: Post below your speciality (Coder, Artist or Musician/Sound Designer) and if possible, a link to something you have done recently. Feel free to post a little bio about yourself and the sorts of people you would like to work with.
Once we have a few names we will match you up with other clickers and you will decide on a name for your new SUPER AWESOME CLICK GROUP!
Each group will then be required (read: strongly encouraged ) to post a project about a new game that you are making.
Each group will then be required to make a super fun game (read the rest of this thread).
GET GOING!

Hello, everyone. My name, is OMC. :B I'm here today to talk ab--oh wait, wrong speech.
WELL. I would say that my true strength is ideas, but that's true of most of us, isn't it? ;P I'm a medium-level coder. Not a noob, but not really advanced.
I consider myself to be an average level coder with 0 artisitic capabilities. I haven't really released anything of purpose on here but am more than comfortable with learning some more advanced sides of MMF2.
I don't think i have any particular strengths. I'm more of a Jack of all trades type. But i guess i do have a lot of experience with TGF and MMF2. Since Ive been a clicker for about 9 years now.
So basically I can do pretty much anything to a certain standard. I would like to contribute music to a game though since Ive started making music a lot lately.
I'm also a musician, and will quite happily knock out a few tunes for whoever needs them - unfortunately I haven't got any to show you as I tend to upload music temporarily onto upload sites and then forget about it. But I can do mids or mp3s.
My name in Jon CB. I'm not that advanced at coding but I'm expirienced with using the PLatform Movement Object, and four direction shooting for platformers and such. And I guess I'm pretty good at making music too.
http://drop.io/wcfecyj i made all of those except crystaline.
I can do pretty much everything well except for music/sounds (I always use ripped sounds, very rarely original).
I can do graphics pretty good.
I can "code" pretty good too.
I made lots of projects but I don't finish them as often. Basicly I get a new idea for a game as I go on making my current game.
Though, my current project "Levels": http://www.create-games.com/project.asp?view=main&id=1871 is promising, atleast in my opinion.
I work alone for the most but ask for friends for ideas and beta tests. I would LOVE to group up with some people and make a game , sounds fun.
Hmm. Guess I may as well put my name down and see what happens...
I can pixel pretty good static sprites and background tiles, but I'm not good at animation.
eg: http://usera.imagecave.com/adamhawker/mypics.png
I consider myself a moderately advanced coder, but wouldn't want to be the main coder on a project - I'd prefer to just help out on the tricky parts as and when required.
I have absolutely zero musical talent, and am not particularly creative when it comes to story/dialogue etc.
I would probably prefer to work on a simple strategy game, but I'm not too bothered. Perhaps something for the arcade?
Basically, anything apart from platformers, RPGs, or anything that's blatantly over-ambitious and won't get finished.
I"m a pretty good coder and I love to make effects. Unfortunately, I don't have MMF2 HWA and I have no idea about online stuff. I also like to make art.

This is Koji. Copy and paste Koji to your sig so he can acheive world domination.
Will we have to create our own webpage and such along with our game? Also is this a direct competition between the other teams or just an attempt to get the community moving?
I guess I wold go in the ideas and story section.
I'm okay at graphics. But if I have a base sprite I can usually get stuff done okay.
My coding skills are average, I can get just about anything coded, but whether or not I code it efficently event and glitch wise is different matter.
The scope of my games is usually really large and ambitious, not that necessary makes them good, but I can keep working with something for a long time as seen with my project Motherworld/Picazzi Village.
Oh and one last thing, I think my games usually have a "Super Happy" mood. I've tried serious games as seen with Slaughter and some other projects, but they just don't feel like me. I like to have a bit of a goofy parody style game in the works, plus I feel like when I work on serious scary games it makes my personality more dark and serious...

This is still definitely going ahead! I've just been waiting for enough entries. And this morning we seem to have a good amount to form a few teams.
As a summary here is what I am thinking in terms of your primary skills:
See first page for latest.
Coders:
OMC
lembi
UrbanMonk
Jon C-B
(Solgryn)
Wiiman
Watermelon876
Artists:
Matt Boothman
Solgryn
Sketchy
Hayo
AndyUK
(Watermelon876)
Musicians:
AndyUK
(Matt Boothman)
Names in brackets indicate a secondary skill. By the way: AndyUK - I think you are pretty good at graphics, would you want to do some of them too?
The Plan
I have a few ideas for how this whole thing is going to work, but before I bust anything on you I thought I should ask your opinions first:
1. I had planned to form teams of 2-3 people (one artist, one coder, and perhaps one musician). And I would try to match you to others with equal abilities and tastes.
Do you want me to form these teams, OR would you rather random pairing?
2. I was thinking we could add a competitive element to this, since I'm sure deadlines will help people make their games faster and motivate them.
How does this grab you?
Make a game in 3 weeks OR your custom rating is changed to "I create vaporware".
Once you finish a game, it is changed back.
For those teams that finish a game, we can use Muz' scoring system (if he's okay with that) to determine the SUPER GLORY TEAM OF AWESOMENESS, where teams are given points based on how well the community receives their game.
Do you have any other suggestions?
I will be awarding DC trophies to those teams who demonstrate teamwork and excellent progress on their games, on a regular basis.
Personally I think that Top down shooters and Platformers are some of the easiest games to make in a short amount of time. But you are welcome to create any type of game that you wish.
Clickers often have a hard time finding sound effects for their games or they use the MMF library ones. I am actually quite good at making sound effects for games (retro and realistic). So if you want me to make sound effects for your game, message me and I will.
I will be closely watching your games progress and providing constructive criticism to help you out. I will crack the whip if you're not making a game.
You will be required to have a project page, but it won't be required to have much information besides your team members and a few details on your game. In fact, I will be encouraging that you don't spend a lot of time on your project page because it's only going to distract you from your actual game. However I strongly encourage that you all frequently release playable alphas/betas of your game for people to try out and comment on. Even if they're just movement demos or engine demos.

Wiiman - while being able to write a great story is truly a very useful talent, for this process I think it would be best if you could categorize yourself into either an artist, coder or musician. Many projects don't get completed because they're over ambitious, so for these groups I think it would be best to try and create a fairly straight forward game. Something that your team knows can get done. To do that, the storyline probably won't be an integral part.
You said yourself that your projects are usually 'really large and ambitious' so here's your chance to do something relatively quickly. To get something done and say that you actually finished a pretty neat game.
PS. To everyone else: Keep posting your details if you want to be part of a team. We haven't closed registrations yet
DunnO why I'm doing this seeing as my computer is still busted and I won't be getting a laptop for a while, but I would have to categorize myself as a coder with secondary arbitrary graphics abilities. Tops 2 is my best public example of either of those two. I can code decently, I would describe it. I can do online but not dead reckoning, and I can code movement engines by modifying default movements, using the PMO, or as a static movemen. (including sine and cosine, and all can be top down or platform). I can't do music at all.
I'm more like OMC in being more excited to come up with a name and logo.
I wouldn't mind using that scoring system I suggested. Just something I thought up in 2 mins, though.. change it to be more fair and stuff.
Anyway, I'm very busy now but I think I'll join.
My skill is mostly in coding and game design. Since I don't have time to do either (hands full with C, MATLAB, LaTeX, and VHDL the next few weeks), I think I'll join as a "consultant", i.e. fix bugs and make sure people don't code in a buggy way. I'll mostly likely be just like a project manager and help , so toss me in a group that's either too ambitious or completely clueless
Coding-wise, most of my experience has been with handling huge chunks of code and data. Lots of experience in making competitive games balanced. I'm mathematically skilled. Not much experience in many other usual klik stuff like level design and online multiplayer.
Personality-wise, I can say that I'm one of the most ambitious people in the klik community, so I'll always try to put a twist on a game to make sure it's not run-of-the-mill. I'm uncomfortable with making simple things. I hate tossing in unnecessary features that aren't fun like ragdoll physics and shadows. Even level editors in some cases.
Biggest drawback is that I get very lazy. And I tend to bite off more than I can chew. Learning to bite off smaller chunks, though

Muz - Perhaps you could be in a similar position to myself? We could look at all of the projects, giving constructive criticism, and making sure that people are actually making their games? Since we are both good coders we could help the teams debug their games and also help with the other little bits and pieces that they are struggling with?
I don't think I can participate because although I was excited, I didn't think of my schedule. I have a ton of work in the next few weeks, including a big three-year project where we have to present our work from all three years, STAR testing the week after that, then finals. It'll all be over in 4 weeks, so I can join this contest then.
Awesomeness is Watermelon.

That's okay Watermelon, thanks for mentioning it. It's better than having a Vaporware custom rating! If nobody else wants to pull out or suggest any other ideas, I'll begin sorting out teams soon.

Yeah, that works

Hello, I'm W3R3W00F. My strength is art; which I've been at for at least 10 years now. I'm a pretty poor coder, and I can't really make music. However, I am pretty good at ideas.
I'd love to work on a very action packed game like a shooter, or a BMUP. Preferably something online, so I'd probably pair well with someone who knows Lacewing. Here are some sprites for a possible BMUP project based on TDC games finished, or upcoming. Or completely random.
Left to Right: Marvin (Random vampire dude I sketched up), W3R3W00F (Implying the possibility of cameos (hint hint.......... HINT HINT.......), Blob, GunGirl, Death Giver, Satan Sam, Stephen (Shady wolf kid from a WIP game o' mine), and That one guy from Bombie Zombie.
This is a brilliant idea, I really wish I could join in but I don't have enough time available for it. Unless there's a way I can contribute with the design of a game, I suppose that's my strength. Not really sure why I'm posting, I really think this is a great idea though!

W3R3W00F - Added.
Neuro - Groups like FAIND had 5 or more members at a time, although they also had multiple projects running. I thought I would keep things simple this time around, with 2-3 people in a group. But I could ask if anyone wants someone to help them with ideas afterwards.
I'm currently looking at everyone and writing down their strengths. I'm then going to match everyone up and DC mail you all when I'm finally done. I will then start a new thread, listing all the teams and the final 'rules'/instructions. At a point I'll have to close registrations to new people, but keep them coming for now.

So far we have 7 coders and 4 artists. I think we'll wait another day and hopefully see another artist or two pop in. If not, it's okay because I think I've worked out some teams that will benefit from having multiple coders with similar talents.

Hiya guys, I'm DaVince, a member who used to be a regular here.
I don't do clicking anymore (went to scripting and programming languages instead), but I'll probably be available if you need some custom music made for your game. I seem to be rather good at chiptunes, though I can do orchestrated music nearing Playstation quality (takes longer to do), too.
I prefer it if you email me when you want a song made, I don't check TDC daily anymore. Asking me to create more than two songs is probably going to cost a very small fee as it'll take time to do. (Unless you're a good friend, of course! Then it'll just take time.)
If you don't mind using music I made before, you can also use anything from here:
http://davince.tengudev.com/music.php
Songs are free for use, modification and redistribution as long as you credit me.
Dang you must be a serious composer. Are you kidding about the fee? But that CheetahMen song was really good and chiptune-y, what did you use to make it?
Well, i prefer to do coding mostly, even tho im not a kickass coder, and i suck at graphics(i can make some static sprites if thats of any use) and no sound.
I also like doing data management, and level making stuff if that counts
Id like to work on some rpg, or some strategy games, and im a little short on time because of university, but im still alive!
Oh and my name is Alessandro, but you can just call me Lino

Shweetness. Right now I'm getting the attack animations done- 5 so far, on 2 different people. Unfortunately, school takes up so much of the day, that I'd've done at least twice that or more had it been some special day off.
Hey I'm Sumo. I specialize in creating Online multiplayer games using lacewing. So I guess I would be a coder. I just completed Pictionary Online, and I'm working on Zombie Swarm (hopefully flash'd) and Siege the Castle (flash'd online tower defense).

Thanks UrbanMonk! That's a pretty old tune, lol.

I'm not that serious, I just don't have much time to do everything I want. So if there's requests of more than 2 songs, I require some (very cheap) compensation, or a LOT of time to finish the songs.
