This used to be our sweet-spot with posts everyday as we tried to fight for the top on the "Downloads" page.

I believe a lot of people use Fusion 2.5 nowadays but seem to not know the existence of this site.

Is it lack of word-of-mouth? Should we tell everybody? Should we partner up with other places?

I do understand that the admins have their hands full at the moment and are doing their best though.

We should try an advertise the site on other sites to hopefully bring more people to the site, to make it big as it uses to be. But the site got a lot of attention because it was promoted on the clickteam website. So if we can get Clickteam to promote it again, the site should be flooded with new people and go back to how it used to be.

get clickteam to have full support of the site i.e. on their site advertising like they use to!

As somebody in Digital Marketing, I believe if I was in charge of the publicity of the site, I would start by promoting a "The Daily Click" Facebook group and advertise the site in signatures or using banners.

The main thing you should focus on is the target audience and the niche, in our case, it would be "Klik Games", but mostly only us know the term "klik" so we could advertise the site using the words "Clickteam Fusion" i.e: "Join the oldest/longest living ClickTeam Fusion indie dev site!"

We gotta take into account that TDC is not for profit so advertising the site would require investment.

Simple question: What does TDC provide that you can't get anywhere else?

Back in the day, it used to be the best place for coding help, as the Clickteam forums were largely deserted, and the people who did frequent them tended not to be very helpful. These days, the Clickteam forums are far more busy and helpful.

TDC also used to be a popular way to distribute games. Nowadays, it's so easy to monetize games that the kind of games that klikers used to upload here, now make money on Steam, Kickstarter, Google Play, etc.

Social media services like Facebook and Twitter also serve both of those functions. Other general game development sites like Tigsource are more popular with klikers now too.

Even the existing articles and forum threads are becoming increasingly outdated, and when Fusion 3 is released, I guess they'll become completely obsolete.

For me TDC was always about the community. Lots of people all willing to show their work, discuss their game making adventure and have a bit of a laugh in the process. Clickteam's forums were always too strait laced for my liking and were not that popular in the old days (not even sure CT had forums when I first got online!).

From what I have seen of the modern "indie" game developer world, the focus is on creating content that can be commercialised rather than doing it for fun, something that is very understandable if it is their primary source of income! Such a mindset is not going to invest much time in online forum-based communities as there is sadly no real benefit in doing so. Twitter, Facebook, twitch etc are the way to gain an online "presence" these days.

TDC provided a platform for people to learn the art and skill of game making. Sadly, I think the vast majority of Fusion users are experienced and no longer need TDC. TDC may be of benefit to a new generation of clickers, but in my opinion, the intake of new clickers peaked many years ago.

That's exactly why I came to this place years ago. The community was fun and helpful.
You would see a lot of the same faces, and so it felt like a home online.

I know a lot of indies are trying to make a living with this game making thing, but I still think there is a market for smaller experimental games that are free.

And with Steam and other platforms becoming so saturated with junk I think we'll see a resurgence of people making games for fun instead of profit.

Free beer usually works.

I've noticed a pretty strong correlation between number of new news posts and community activity. This activity includes overall usage of the forum and, of course, new downloads. I made it my mission last year to make as many news posts as I could and the numbers were definitely engaging users. Even other admins stepped in.

I don't think anyone should expect anything more out of TDC then they are willing to also deliver. The sheer number of "What is happening with this site" and "Is it dead?" are pretty discouraging to admins to want to take time out of their day to make news posts, moderate forums and review downloads.

Frankly, with a full time job, a wife, a kid, an active adult life... It's just not the same as it was 15 years ago when I was teenager with no responsibility and an unwavering eagerness to make connections on internet forums. There was no Facebook, or Reddit, or Twitch, or Twitter. We found this niche home and were great friends. But time has moved on, the community has mostly spoken through inaction, and that's completely OK.

Just enjoy this site for what it is now and not constantly comparing it to what it was, those days are gone. We can craft a new future but it begins with striving for the past.

Think more about, how should you not make them gone... Like banning them from this website when they annoy the moderators.

A lot of people left in the 2009-2010 era when a certain admin was being overly controlling and members were deleted "by accident". I have merely been lurking here since then.

I was here then, but I don't remember this at all.

The drama must have happened off-board or something.

The idea of a forum community being cohesive (irl-like) enough to have running jokes and political drama and daily activity to keep up with is kind of odd to me now... seems a long-ago era of netfaring.

I'm sure fora aplenty thrive out there in the wide world, but I seem to have involuntarily downgraded to Twitter.

We need a Click-Con.
