I could attempt to make some kind of DC chat for people to download.
I may be prity new at MOO/MOO2, but I have gotten prity good, I could add rooms for each of the boards, Game talk, & so on.
Wouldn't be the best thing in the work, but it would be prity cool.
Only huge problem...
I don't have cable or D.cable so I can't use the MOO Serverside for a server. I would need a relieable server to be on.
I have some ideas of my own i would like to share.
1) Can we have a new website design now please or when it is autumn - we've had this for aaaaaaaaaages.
2) On each users profile page they have the option to write dev-logs on this page.
3) Preview edits so people don't post another preview when they finally have screenshots.
4) Organisation to Articles, Previews and Links seperating them into Genres.
5) They order options on the download page are fixed, so they work.
6) Mail shows either all mail - and mail images flashes with a new one, or just it flashes and shows how many new. Or, it says You've Got Mail.
7) A seperate page for reviews of good quality.
8 ) Special pages every so often (month) with things like a new competition, an very in-depth preview, etc etc.
9) Preview our Posts, Downloads, Articles and Previews before we post them.
10) A Click-Zine?
That's it. Except i don't agree to the upload files option. That could lead to porn, or viruses uploaded. Now to agreeing / disagreeing with Brandon:
1) No - Could allow for misuse, spamming. Think how many users to could be flooded within a couple of minutes.
2) Hmmmm 1 - 5 would be good, Maybe like 1 - 5 stars, like the stars in the reviews.
3) Yes.
4) Not sure about Ratings, maybe just the option for some text you want to put in below your name.
5) No, just witht he categories have the option of demos.
6) Like i said - dev-logs.
7) Yes.
8 ) Warn admins would be better, and if they get enough complaints then the member is warned / banned.
9) Yes, 1 - 5 and Thumbs Up/Down.
10) Already in place.
I remember the five star review system on the old DC, and that you didn't have to be a member to review, you'd just type in your name, post your comment and the number of stars you gave it.
I think the security needs to be stronger. I mean, look at all those crappy articles. I think articles should be checked by an admin before they're posted. That would really help.
Project Progress:
1.: Droid Runner (5% Complete)
Finishing Up Game Engine
I like the Thumbs system the way it is. If you give any more detail to it, you'll have cowards just voting the minimum amount to it for fun. If you want a rating, that's what the reviews are for .
I like the newbie rating idea.
I think that something should be done as a way to warn users, but then again, me, ShadowCaster, and Rikus have made waaay too many enemies as it is. It could easily be abused to gang-bash any user you don't like.
Still, I kinda miss that old system when you get to rate people. You know, a popularity rating so you know whether or not your recent actions are affecting anyone. It could discourage people from doing stupid things, and I'm sure some of the more commonly disliked people (me, Spiderhead, Dogzer, NationalLiberal) really don't care for low ratings.
There was once a place for cool reviews, but I guess the admins couldn't find the time to update it. Personally, I want a place for the good articles. Articles help the community a lot more than reviews, but most people don't realise the good ones due to all the article bashing going on.
Security ain't necessary. Flaming a bad article/game is enough to make the user and other people scared to make one . Combined with my popularity rating suggestion, it's better than any security SC or Clubsoft would come with against crap.
I like Spiderhead's award trophy idea though. The chat app would be useless, since most seasoned clickers who actually chat prefer using IRC or MSN Messenger anyway. I'm sure all the admins would agree .
