I now use ModPlug Tracker, because...

MIDIs suck!! MIDIs have different sounds for different MIDI synths. Isn't that pathetic?! And nearly every single synth sounds crap. MODs let you use any sound you want on your computer in your tune! As long as you have one sample of a C (Or other) note on your computer, you can have it play on any note you want. You can apply effects that change the volume, panning, threshold, and more about each note you play. MIDIs can only have 16 channels, but MODs can have up to 64 channels.

MODs are becoming increasingly popular in click games. Examples are: Titan Omega Revelations, Zone Runner, all of the games that I have in production, and much, much more!

Pah, basically all you said was that synths suck in different ways for your explaination of Midi suckage, and mod's usually sound crap with certain sample styles. And you only listed two games that use mod's face it, even greats like ED and red feud use midis. Even MSD. I for one use composed midis+mp3's (High compression.)

i love Mod every game ive made since PW2 has used MODs. probably cuz im an old amiga dog

much larger files than midi, more dynamic (important), more (nay! unlimited) sample diversity. and the knowing fact that you may have mods dating back to '88
midi is ok but it just dosnt excite me. its like an old man, it sits there pleasantly not causing a fuss until it farts.

Midi2 is just going to be like MOD (music with samples), hell i got an intel motherboard that has a built-in Midi2 capable soundcard... at least i think its called Midi2.

It's a matter of taste. I like mods because what i make sounds exactly the same on other computers, it's easier, and there are better samples, and you're not limited to the 128 instruments a midi table has....so if i wanted to make a tune from one sound of me sneezing, i could....one advantage with midis are the size though, because the instrument sounds are stored on each persons computer, so midis only need to tell the computer what and when to play something...
I'm gonna have to make midis for my KnP game entry (for the comp.)
