Hi every one.

I was a little disapointed in some of the Monsters vs Aliens games that came out. I mean they were fun and all but has everyone forgoten Sonic 3? I was really hanging out for a showdown between Susan Murphy and the giant robot but I was disapointed. So I made this.

It's just a 3 level platformer mini game. I hope you like it, please let me know what you think.

Decent game.

-Installer, Why?
-Huge filesize.
+Solid engine.

I guess I made an installer because I thought it seemed more professional to do so. The next game I'm working on is going to be a much bigger project and I wonted to get some practice in.

I'm not sure why the file size is so huge. Any ideas?

Installers for no reason = BAD.

The huge filesize iz probably cuz of the music/sound-effects. Try compressing/using other fileformats.

Sorry I thought I'd responded already. Anyway, just out of curiosity, why is an install file bad?

Also, the sound thing makes a lot of sence. I used wave files. Maybe next time I'll try MP3s.

or even ogg's which are slightly smaller and don't need to be included externally

ogg's wouldn't people have to download a codec for that? Or can you include something like that in the installer.

...Maybe I included the installer in the hopes it would include that CNC32.dll file. But I couldn't quite figure out how to include it manually, so I'm not sure if it did.

A installer is bad because;
*It takes time to install.
*It puts possible crap in registry/start-menu/etc... (Easy to remove, but still annoying).

MMF2 would have the ogg codec.

Yeah people generally don't like installers at TDC. Thats not to say they're bad, and we shouldn't expect everyone to automatically know that so don't worry about it.
The only real reason people don't like them is the inconvenience of installing and uninstalling something that more often than not gets deleted after 10 minutes. They always leave behind shortcuts too which clutters up people's start menus.

Ok, I'll have to think about that for next time. My next project will have videos, can they be built into the exe? I have not used them a lot previusly.

Thanks Dustin for letting me know about the ogg codec.
