They usually have competitions, but they are never planned until a few weeks in advance. We just got the latest results back, so we wont have a new one any time soon. Besides, MMF2 looks worth buying anyway; it just happens to be that some people got lucky enough to win it before they even got a chance to buy it. That said, if you are a legal owner of MMF 1.5, chances are pretty high that you will receive a pretty nice discount.
Here's a crazy idea, but MMF2 will cost what? about £60? For an application you're going to spend years with before MMF3. If you really wanted MMF2 then don't buy another Xbox 360 game at £50 and you're only £10 off! Magic. It's only the price of 2 GC games after all. It's hardly Photoshop with its annual sequels.
I didn't even think about MSD when writing that.
I want a competition, it doesn't have to have a prize.
How about bringing back that 2bit craze, as a competition.
Would be cool with another competition, a mini-one at least. But with that I don't mean a 48 hour one. A longer one that can bring us some quality games as well that you can't beat in 2 minutes.
Would be really fun to be one of the judges, even though it means I can't enter the compo myself.
Anyone interested in arranging something?
I think theres no more reason to do the overexperienced celebration theme.
I suggest to make something more related to games or fictional enviroments, or even gameplay genres if the goal isnt to create a new one, wich does not seem since 80% of all games are just themed platformer.

You're right. My first though was an easter comp. But on second thought, that wasn't a great idea. How about a contest making a game in a genre that isn't that common. Like an adventure game or an RPG? Of course those genres are a bit harder to make. And platformers should be strictly forbidden they are just too common. An anti-platform contest maybe?
I would love to arrange the whole thing, I have waaay to much free time on my hands. Would be nice with at least 2 or 3 more judges that can give honest opinions. Of course this means you can't enter the contest yourself. Is anyone interested?
Or should we just drop this whole new contest thing?
Hmm a KA/TDC compo... I can arrange that (I ran the Halloween compo on KA). If there is intrest from TDC on this matter then please contact vortex2 at gmail dot com.
If you guys want some compo action I can help you out. Unfortunately, I haven't any prizes to give out; but I can organize and such. Was actually thinking about running monthly compos (for NO prizes other than custom tags/DC Points/etc.) Of course, I need to get onto clubby about that general poll.
Needless rules? The Mini-comps have always had the loosest rules around (That's cause you can't win anything important/worth money). Basically just a theme and a time limit and maybe a max filesize. Speaking of which, come up with some themes here ppl. When I get back on Saturday, I might very well be starting the first minicomp.

That KNP competition was a terrible idea. KNP has aged so horribly over the past decade and change, and if you disagree then you're seeing the past through rose-colored glasses. It's needlessly frustrating to use software so obsolete.
As for new competition themes, Shab, I'll try to think of a few:
There's the niche genre themes that work pretty well-
*RTS
*Turn Based Strategy
*RPG
*Fighting
*Racing
There's the whacky restrictions kind-
*Game in the first person
*Limited color depth
*Vertical Scrolling
*3 button (Think Jungle Beat or King of Swing)
There's good ol' fashion THEMES-
*Game revolving around gravity
*----------------------dimensions
*----------------------plagues (Zombies, bitches)
*----------------------Religion
*----------------------Superpowers (This one I saw on KA, it's a good idea)
*----------------------Electricity and circuitry
*----------------------Industry/Factories
*----------------------Speed
*----------------------Military Tactics
*----------------------Fantasy Setting
*----------------------Psychic Abilities
@DG - Yeah, but that's kind of the point in the Knp compo, to see if you can do cool things with that ancient piece of...software. It's more like a personal challenge type deal.
I do like that first person idea though; if I use it would you want to be one of the judges?
RTS on the other hand I think might be a bit too difficult for the average TDCer (Vortex and I just discussed this actually) to me it seems like that would be better for a KM comp. I shudder to think of what some TDCers would interpret Real Time Strategy as.
Craps, I'm an old man!
