I think people take the piss more at badly done tattoos.
Like if someone had a bugs bunny that looks like its been on heroin for 20 years.
But if its done well people just appriciate it, even if its somthing they wouldnt have in a million years.
I for one would never have "tribal", because in the UK thats considered to be what all the chavs have and in general just doesn't interest me. But I can appriciate when its well done.

I saw a policeman with tribals round both forearms. Honestly, the stuff they let them get away with these days. Upstanding pillars of society my arse!
I donut want to get the swine flu.
Actually my dad had it for a few days before he was diagnosed but nobody else here caught it, and now he's almost better. So much for it being a super murder killer.
one of my closest friends has a small tribal tatoo on his back and I gotta say it looks pretty badass.
I've been thinking a lot about making a tatoo myself, but I'm too afraid I might get tired at looking at the same picture/symbol/whatever every day.
Also I'm glad to hear that at least in the UK people aren't as retarded in the US or in Portugal.
When I went to the us last year, close to my grand parents's house in cleveland(ohio), I saw a few guies probably younger than me beating up and humiliating a poor guy who dressed like a goth. When I passed by they even had the guts to ask me if I wanted to help them beat up the kid. Later it turned out the goth was actually the son of a friend of my grandmother, and lived nearby.
Oh no we get that here too. Some girl was killed by some chavs for being a goth. Infact my nearest town had some riots in 2000 that were triggered by racial tensions (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/2001_Oldham_race_riots). So we're not all that civilised, even if we like to say otherwise to the Americans to make them behave sometimes .
Thats really disgusting at least here in Portugal people respect each other a little more, even though there are always a couple of assholes who would use any oportunity to take a swipe at someone who looks a bit diferent from them.
However here trends are quite diferent from the us for example, here most people of my age wear pink and bright yellow clothes for example. When I showed a pic of me with some friends to my grandparents in the us, they told me "they looked like sissies".
People do that here too. I went to the Trafford Centre yesterday, which is a big massive outlet with all kinds of fashion retailers and the men's section is chock-a-block with yellows, oranges, pink and a large amount of scarves and other accessories.
Btw every year all over the world they have new trends and colours and this year is yellows oranges etc last autumn the colours were purple and navy thats why the colours are all the same ^^
