If clickteam pulled a stunt like this and made gf2 free people would be more willing to learn it, and then upgrade later. Add 3d and iphone support and mmf2 would put unity out of business.
Yea man because clickteam should totally work for free.

Or just follow Unity's model instead. They have a lot of good competition now, Clickteam are going to need to adapt to this market or else better and cheaper products are going to overtake them (or already have with Unity).
Whatever Unity's model is. I haven't looked too much into it but my college is in the process (or was) of getting some kind of Unity license for the students. Multiple OS support has that power.
Unity's business model is hoping that serious devs will pony up the cash to pay for pro once they've got a good Unity free project. I don't think MMF2Dev has a high enough conversion-from-standard rate for that system to work out of the box. That doesn't mean they couldn't switch things around a bit and give TGF2 away for free with some more limitations or something, but it still seems like a silly plan right now. I don't think Clickteam is well-known enough, or at least their products used enough, for it to work. Unity is aimed at a different crowd. I mean... there's a wii version. MMF2 caters a lot more to "pick up and go" while Unity takes serious knowledge and people more likely to pay for the extra benefits of having pro.
I'd be annoyed if I purchased this the day before it became free.
I remember reading that if people purchased it recently within a set time range then they can get a refund. Also indie users get a upgrade deal or something but the problem with that is it's something like $1000+ more in price. I looked on the forums and it seems there is some that are not happy about the change that already owned it but for everyone else it is great
The activation sometimes causes problems for users because of either the server being overloaded or firewall/proxy settings (Users from America generally have a difficult time with the internet activation). If you have a problem getting it activated, it might actually be faster doing a manual activation. When you hit manual activation, save the file and send that file to support@unity3d.com and let them know the situation in your e-mail, then they'll send you the file back, which you can then read in the activation.
