How does nostalgia not have an on/off switch? IF you want to play a game because you thought it was awesome when you were young you don't exactly get nostalgic from it when you play it again and it sucks.
Ha ha!
English is my second language, so be glad that I even bother! But that really shows the depth of your argumentation.
There are plenty of games I loved as a child that I can't stand now. I guess nostalgia is stronger in some people. Then again I played a lot of shit games in my childhood. (no amount of nostalgia will ever make me play Bridge-it again)
Super Adventure island looks pretty cool, and has some outstanding music. (by Yuzo Koshiro of streets of rage fame) I might grab that one of these days.
PROOF
How much does the drumloop sound like 'Fighting in the street' from Streets of rage 1? lol
lol, wasn't expecting this to turn into a SNES debate thread, but I don't mind
I hope to get a fair collection going, though I don't know how I'm gonna afford Harvest moon, Chrono Trigger, or Secret of Mana/ Evermore... Though I hear they are some of the best on the system...
If you put a million monkeys at a million keyboards, one of them will eventually write a Java program.
The rest of them will write Perl programs.
The three first Final Fantasy games were for the Famicom
Weird how they released Final Fantasy Mystic Quest, then another game for game boy also called Mystic Quest (which is actually the predecessor to Secret of Mana)
- Ok, you must admit that was the most creative cussing this site have ever seen -
Megaman X is great, though I probably enjoy Megaman X2 just a little bit better.
Super Metroid is one of my favorite games, I definitely recommend it.
Have you ever thought about Earthbound? Sorry but I had to mention it Earthbound sort of a hit or miss game for most people, so you might enjoy it, you might not. Earthbound is a classic turn based RPG. But generally, people who enjoy Earthbound aren't big RPG buffs. This is because Earthbound is so far out beyond the normal RPG stereotype of Dragons and Magic. Earthbound is all about quirkiness and humor.
I'm not a fan of Final Fantasy, but I love Final Fantasy 6, or Final Fantasy 3 as it will be called on SNES. I could never enjoy FF7 and all of that, but FF6(or FF3 on SNES) has always been a classic to me.
Ever played "Legend of Mystical Ninja" by Konami? It's on virtual console now actually. Really neat game, it switches between 8-directional and platforming in different levels. A very fun and goofy game, just like Earthbound.
Now you have Super Mario Kart on the list, for its time it might have been good, but in my opinion, it has aged TERRIBLY!
A Link to the Past is good as well but not at the top of the list of SNES games for me, I would prefer to play Super Metroid or Earthbound.
Overall, by buying into and SNES, your reliving the golden age of game the way it's meant to be played. Nothing compares to playing SNES games on an SNES. Virtual console and Emulating(especially emulating, which sucks all the fun out of the game) doesn't even compare. A couple years back when I decided to replay Earthbound on an Emulator, the first thing I did after beating the game was pop it in my Super Nintendo and play it from beginning to End again. And I was like, "Whoa, this is a totally different experience."
Edit
Oh forgot to include, Secret of Mana is awesome! Except, towards the end it gets a little messy. I had a lot of fond memories of playing it in cooperative mode with my Brother.
The sequel to it, Seiken Densetsu 3 is really really great actually, the most polished SNES game I ever played in fact. The draw back of Seiken Densetsu 3 is though, it only comes in Japanese... So you have to learn Japanese or play a translation of it on an emulator But occasionally, someone tries to market a translation of it dumped into a cartridge on ebay claiming its some sort of never released English Port. This is all a bunch of crap, but hey, if you buy it you can at least play SD3 on SNES without having to learn Japanese.
whoops nevermind, for some reason I thought you guies were talking about the NES.
Well when I think of the SNES I recall playing a game made by blizzard, black something I think, at a friends's house. Diablo was released not long after, and I remember looking at the blizzard logo and thinking to myself "wow these guies make awesome games ! They have got to be the best developer ever !". The irony is, warcraft, starcraft and wow were yet to be released.

It might be a regional title, but I though the predecessor was called final fantasy adventure?
Johnny Look
"black something"
That would be Blackthorne, I was actually going to suggest that game, but it's not as well known as most games. It's a pretty awesome game, and I wish Blizzard would've done something else with it, rather than throw all their eggs in one gigantic blankcraftiablo basket. When was the original warcraft released? I though that would've been earlier than blackthorne.

"3 is total garbage though . . . i seriously think the only reason it was popular is because you could play as Zero."
Why am I feeling deja-vu? I could've sworn someone else, if not you said this exact same thing at another time.
But yeah, #3 was pretty bad with it's music ripped off Guns n' Roses and all. One of the things I hated about #2 and 3 was the music, there is one particular instrument that stands out more than anything, and I'm not quite sure what it's called. They should've hired the guys that did the music for Megaman 2, and if it's the same guy, he's really washed up.
Speaking of which, has anyone else tried Megaman 9 and 10? I have both of them on my xbox, and I have to say, they're quite difficult. Some of the challenges that they have are almost like "haha, yeah right." They're something really obnoxiously annoying like "beat the game once a day for 7 days" or something like that. I mean, I like megaman and all, but damn.

now on the Xbox Live Marketplace!
Yeah I really like Megaman X 1 music, but I don't remember X2 and X3 . . . Can't really compare them to their NES Counterparts though .
It was probably me that said X3 was garbage. It is the most popular X game on the SNES, but by far the worst IMO. I was bored to sleep while trying to play it and am surprised that I finished it. The weapons are also really, really bland .
