Just checked up on my philosophical debate (which broke no rules) about what you would do if you woke up one morning and realised you were bottle of thread lock.
I find it disappointing that it got locked anonymously (totally and utterly lame) and secondly there was no reason to its locking. I guess I have some condolence in that it did not disappear by the power of magic.
Great Job guys!
I request that the person who locked the thread be known and secondly the reason for its locking. This is something I think all locked threads should display.

I agree. Although i'd say if the admin want to remain anonymous at the very least give a reason.

I totally agree, there was no reason to lock that thread at all. That said, the events over the past few weeks made me completely lose my respect for this site (or what was left of it).

It was locked because the topic was too uncomfortable for one particular admin. I think that's your reason. I don't agree with it either but there you go.

I agree with all that's been said, and my respect for this place is dropping at an exponential rate.

Well ssrsly its up the ADMINS what gets locked and what not. If they see something that is not suited to the site they have to right to lock it! Its THEIR site.

I'm unsure as to why the thread was locked, but we're looking into it and I will message you as soon as I find out.

It's a control freak issue thing. I think certain admins on this site also deal with issues on more of a personal scale, rather than proffesional. But hey, according to a recent PM from Rikus we're not allow to tell Admins what to do (voice our opinions). So I guess you're right, Roncho.

Cheers Flava
@Roncho: At the end of the day you are correct Roncho, but I guess freedom of speech is a bad thing in your books?
I guess engineering products are way too risque for TDC.

I think it's okay for people to voice their opinions about the admins, especially when they think an admin has made an incorrect decision. We're trying to listen to constructive criticism a lot more now (although it might not seem like it, we've had several discussions about dealing with certain things on the site - and we're still working on it).
I just think that sometimes creating a thread to do that isn't always the best way - it sort of gives off a negative vibe around the place and doesn't always end in a positive result. A PM or e-mail to one of the admins should suffice and actually get you somewhere.
Though in this case I have seen the thread and I will look into it, if you have any further problems then feel free to send me a message.

Surely you already know who locked it? Surely there is some logging system of admin actions? It would be crazy not to have such a system.
I think public discussion is the best way in this situation afraid, the voice of many is more likely to get through.

I'll agree with you on this one
..and nope, no logging system on any admin actions/commands (yes I know that completely sucks). It is something I've proposed to the rest of the team and we're still discussing it. Personally I would like to completely revamp the whole moderation system from scratch, but it'll take time if we're to get it right.
Feel free to discuss anything regarding this here, so long as it isn't personal attacks on individual admins. If you have a problem with an individual then message one of us.

Most of the site admins were regular users themselves like you and me.
I always thought of tdc as a community, it doesn't to belong to one or two persons, it belongs to everyone who wants to be part of it.
The admins have added responsibilities and their job is not easy, but I think complaining about a bad decision is a right we have.
