depends. desktops are generally cheaper than brand makes. like Dell and co. for the good stuff.
laptops are much more. but they are much better. physically, both in looks and strength.
and apple are nice with discounts if your a student, teacher, etc. which is nice
wait... why did i get a sence of deja vu just then

I know I don't need all that RAM, but you never know how much RAM I'm capable of wasting using
As a boy, I wanted to be a train. I didn’t realize this was unusual—that other kids played with trains, not as them.
most of the price is RAM(~$4500 for all 8 gigs) and Displays(2 @ ~$3300 each). I like screen space, too bad my current monitor can only go up to 1024x768 I want über size

You're going to pay that much for a peice of shit? 2.5GHZ, thats piss, I just got a 3.4GHZ P4 2GBram, 500GB harddrive, a fucking monster machine, for $1,200, but most people arn't as lucky as me, because normally this machine costs $2,500. And unfortunatly for you all the good P2P programs don't work with macs and you have to actually buy software. Too bad all the other free programs online are for Windows, such as google's new "Keyhole" and Nasa's "World Wind", which fucking kick ass.
Steve Zissou: Anne-Marie, do all the interns get Glocks?
Lol for a computer guy you're not that smart with hardware are you JP?
look at laptops now. i paid £1000 on the dot for my Pentium 4 3.06ghz HT machine just 4-5 months ago, now you can get that for £799 whilst a Pentium M 1ghz will set you back a cool £1500 AND run faster. why? because processor speeds mean shit all. dont get me started on how Xeon get away with dual 1Ghz CPUs and outperform Pentium 4 3ghz machines.
my uni. we have a G5 with dual 1.5Ghz G5 processors, 4Gb Ram. and a Pentium 4 at 3Ghz, 4Gb ram again. i had a video project and it came down to rendering it, i had it on the Mac; rendering took an hour. because i had 3 hours to kill i threw it on the P4 machine and it took 1hr 30mins.
JP, you did notice it's DUAL 2.5 ghz secondly, I got my 2.8 ghz, 768mb RAM, 80 gig HDD, and CD RW & DVD RW drive for ~$600, that's a much better deal than that one you bought.
"And unfortunatly for you all the good P2P programs don't work with macs" are you saying you use p2p programs? <g>
